We absolutely adore AURORA’s incredible debut All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend, which has been released today.

Her debut expertly blends folk sensibilities- impressive and intelligent lyrics with flowing, delicate melodies- with punchy, radio-ready synth instrumentation, layered and meticulously interweaving.

The album features a number of tracks mixed by Neil Comber:

Positive reviews are flowing in, with Paste stating:

... “Conqueror,” one of the album’s real jams. It channels a Lily Allen meets Regina Spektor energy – bubbly and positive but also demanding. The song bursts explosively into a repetitive chorus about feeling a-la-la-live which gives the album a kick of energy which lasts through all twelve tracks. “Warrior” is another one of the album’s few upbeat moments, though it opens with the lyric “I fall asleep in my own tears.” It’s certainly not positive, but it’s vulnerable and that power feels very real and authentic. The chorus echoes a very self-love inspired message – “let love conquer your mind, warrior.”

There’s also been love from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, awarding the debut 8.5/10 and Renowned For Sound bestowing a whopping 5 stars! So take a listen for yourself and see what you think

With EMMY THE GREAT’s third studio album, Second Love, out today, we thought we’d share with you the video for the record’s first single, Algorithm, which was created using just that!

Speaking to Nowness, Emma-Lee Moss explains:

"With the help of Nicolas Seymour-Smith, a programmer and artist, we built a machine that generates music-video treatments using natural language processing algorithms. We taught the machine what a music video plot was by feeding it synopses of music videos—classics like "Thriller" and "Scream", and modern favourites from Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. The machine began generating its own plots based on what it had learned, and 'Algorithm' was born.”

How excellent is AURORA’s track Conqueror?

Football and gaming fans might recognize this brilliant song from the FIFA ‘16 soundtrack, and even if you’re not well versed in the art of scoring digital goals, you might be aware of how impressive the yearly FIFA soundtracks are, blending together an upbeat mixture or indie pop tracks from artists across the world. So it’s really no surprise this amazing track was selected for this year’s game.

But you don’t have to be a footy fan to enjoy this track- it’s taken from her forthcoming debut All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend, and is one of a number of tracks on the album mixed by the glorious Neil Comber.

We’re guessing you’ve already seen the John Lewis Christmas Advert, but for those rare few who have just emerged from the rocks, we’d like to draw your attention this way.

John Lewis’ adverts are pretty well renowned for starting off the Christmas cheer with warmth and wonder, pairing beautiful imagery with brilliantly heart-wrenching covers of excellent tracks. Each year the TV channels battle it out to win the première of the new advert, and bets are always on to try and suss who will sing the next year’s theme.

This year, listen out for the incredible voice of AURORA, the idiosyncratic young Norwegian singer songwriter that has already found fans in the likes of Katy Perry and Decca Records, who released her first EP, Running With The Wolves, in May. For this advert, Aurora creates a beautiful rendition of Oasis’ Half The World Away; a personal favourite moment in the advert for us is Aurora’s ethereal vocal arrangement soaring in at 1:28.

We’re not big fans of commercials, but we're suckers for good music, and this certainly is an excellent track. Great to see such a talented musician gaining such recognition!
