Jane by Robin Neilly Via Flickr: Robin Neilly - Wedding photographer. Something I had never dreamt that I would be. Like many people who get into photography I thought I'd be a landscape photographer, cutting about at sunrise waiting for the right cloud formation and then pop but the truth is I love people more than scenery. i love the intimate moments that you have a front seat to. You have the chance to tell the story of the day and capture memories that will last lifetimes and beyond. This weekend I'm shooting a wedding and I can't wait.
Perfect example of why Neilly Boy is an awesome well-rounded dude: This morning we were pumping iron at the gym when I heard a song playing on the radio but couldn't place it. Me: Dad, I know this song is used in the opening credits of a TV show but I can't remember which show for the life of me. Do you know? Neilly: [in the middle of a set without missing a beat] Mob Wives.
My family's Seder every year is an interactive, engaging event with spirited discussion about the story of Passover and why we uphold its customs. Tonight my aunt mentioned that nothing, not even the selection of delicious desserts, should be eaten once we've had the afikomen (special matzah). There was some debate about if that were true or if eating anything was ok as long as it was before midnight (and that's not a Gremlins joke, it really does say you have to finish the Seder by 12am). But all that matters is how this issue was put to rest: My uncle: You mean you can't have anything else after the afikomen? My dad: That's the last thing you can put in your mouth - the last FOOD anyway [cue snicker reminiscent of a young Beavis or Butthead] And so I've had a successful time of imagining both my ancestors in Egypt and my father at 9 this holiday. Happy Passover!

For today’s prompt, write a city poem.
This poem is about the city of Fall Mill, which is the setting of both novels I’m writing. It is written in the voices of my three main characters, as if each one had been told to write a poem about Fall Mill.

to the bustle of New York,
could never afford Manhattan
and came home broke.

At our morning gym session today Neilly asked me if I watched the new Wahlburgers show featuring Mark and Donnie:
Me: I haven't, does Jenny McCarthy make an appearance since she's dating Donnie?
Neilly: She does, but you know she wishes she was with Mark.
Me: You think so? Why?
Neilly: Come on, Mark's better looking, he's more successful, of course she'd want to be with him instead!
So, friends, there you have it. My dad made an official ruling on the important issue of which Wahlburg is more desirable.
My dad sees the parental guidelines that come up before an episode of Shameless and gives a whispered "yes! Nudity!" cheer like a twelve year old boy. Pretty sure that's not how they were intended for parental use.
