BJD photography tutorial: phones, small cameras and other wide anlge lenses

In this part i decided to go mobile and make a whole photoset using my iphone camera to see what issues does it have and how to deal with them. All written here can be used with small cameras and other devices with wide angle lenses. In general, wide angle lens means we get a lot in our frame, but proportions of what we get into it distort as more as we get closer to the object we’re shooting. Distortions are usually more visible at the sides of the frame and less visible in the middle part of it. And as the doll is a small object to shoot (i used 52 cm zaoll doll here) there are some issues and i’ll try to show how to slove them.

Alas, the final year of DollCon Dallas has ended. My favorite times were spent in the photography room, playing with the props and different backdrops. I'm going to be making a few posts of what I managed to snap!

First is Melon in the clouds. I loved this swing/cloud combo. It made for such dreamy photos.

I just received the new Dollstown 2.2 body I pre-ordered in November last year and it is gorgeous.

I think the body is a little too slim for the head maybe but WOW

What a body! The type of doll to make you fall in love with BJD all over again.

I love how organic the joints look compared to the blockiness of the 18yr girl and boy for example. And they can REALLY move.

Difficult to stand her with all those leg joints, but she goes into the most beautiful poses almost automatically. I just love this body, wow!

I got the "copper oriental" resin color in an attempt to match Merry Doll Round "cookie" color. It is not a very close match in these specific batches but it's acceptable to me (and I suspect the body will mellow to be closer). And with the faceup who can tell anyhow :>

Twinning - pt 1

For a while I joked I should take twinning photos with my dolls as I have 80% of my current cosplays made twice in human and in doll size, it finally happened.
