"The mission: Gather the Runes. Defeat Quake. Save the world."
Quick detour on my current project to test out some ideas I might use later on... and to do yet another version of the runes from Quake. This batch being more consistent with the classic design of the runes as they appear in-game, while still incorporating in some ideas I had for the earlier designs. I used how they appear in Quake Champions, on Ranger's Gladiator set, as a baseline. But, wanted to include some extra detail to enhance the perception that they were powerful artifacts.
Strogg Reclamation Transfer - Alpha-series (Brain)
A non-combat model, designed for reclamation, analysis, and development.
One such unit, transfer RT-A 1997, was undergoing maintenance in the hangar facilities near Cerberon when they came under attack from a lone Earth marine. Partially deconstructed, the unit still attempted to fend off the attacker, only to be destroyed in the process. (Quake 2)
The "Brain" is often dispatched to analyze surviving individuals from a captured region, and salvage any useful information from them. This is achieved by them plugging their three tentacles directly into the host's cerebral cortex, and downloading the information to the Brain's own drives, which are later shared with the Strogg network.
In order to defend themselves, Brains come equipped with a shield generator on their right forearm. This provides them a moderate amount of protection from attackers, should they ever find themselves in combat.
Following the failed invasion of Earth, the Strogg began developing a number of new models to help counter the human forces. Among these, were the Beta-series, which boasted additional front armor, to protect the “salvaged” enemy intelligence, as well as a pair of shoulder mounted laser projectors.
Unfortunately for the Strogg, the majority of the Beta-series units were assigned to their moon base in preparation for the second invasion of Earth. These units, along with their construction facility, were destroyed along with the base. (Quake 2: The Reckoning)
A modified version of the standard P-51o, the P-51h has been built with the avian Tazon in-mind and utilizes lighter materials in it’s construction to allow them to carry it while flying. As the materials also have a lower temperature-threshold, the pistol isn’t capable of using Oxygen to create plasma. Instead, Hydrogen is used as the fuel source of choice.
True to form, the pistol is emblazoned with the symbol of the Tazon Senizat, the largest governing body in their space, as soon as it’s taken possession of by them.
The Ezervan P-51o is one of the more widely distributed and used pistols within Alliance space. This version comes complete with two individual power settings and a safety switch to prevent accidental firing. The power settings are "Non-Lethal" and "Lethal"; Non-Lethal can go as low as a very-warm burst of air up to second-degree burns, while the Lethal setting can kill if fired into a vital area.
The pistol functions by propelling a compressed burst of excited gas (plasma) forward from the barrel. The P-51o is designed and rated to use any gas up to, and including, the weight of Oxygen as the fuel for the plasma. It's design also incorporates an atmospheric processor, allowing it to draw supported gasses from the surrounding environment. As more than 59% of the inhabited Alliance worlds use some form of Oxygen-based gas, this allows it to have a limitless supply of fuel.
For situations where an Oxygen-based atmosphere isn't present, or when in the vacuum of space, the pistol can also have a compressed gas-cartridge inserted over the atmo. intake vents. Kyron Dust Cell - Model: 01537 Considered a useless byproduct of harvesting and shaping Kyron crystals for starship and city reactors until recently, Kyron dust has become the power supply of choice for all manner of small-scale devices. From interlink phones to power-tools, handheld weapons to prosthetics, it stands as the cheapest and most reliable resource for personal use across the Alliance and beyond. Holographic Display (Top to bottom): - Oxygen Capacity - Kyron Dust Cell Charge: 89% Power - Internal Backup Power Charge - Non-Lethal Setting: 50% Power (Currently selected setting) - Lethal Setting: 75% Power - Power adjustment for currently selected setting
