The young boy with freckles all around his cheeks raised his dark eyes from the ocean before him to look at the girl.
The sudden question surprised and confused him a bit, why would she ask such a thung? Everyone knew when people died, Nele too. He guessed it was another philosophical one, since his aunt, best friend and crush had always been so clever.
However, he was no sure what she wanted him to reply.
Something smart probably, but unlike his two youngest siblings, he had never really been intelligent. Nicole would certainly had find something brilliant to say, while Sora would have answered something poetic. Oh he was not stupid either, just an average child.
And at the moment, his brain was more preoccupied by something else. Likeprotecting his sister and brother from the world now that Ann was no longer there to do it. Or mourning the death of his mother and grandfather for example.
Maybe the reply would help him?
Eddie’s onyx shifted to the beautiful cloudless sky, then closed when the bright sun started making them watering.
He pondered the question during long minutes.
- - Apparently when someone hits you in the chest with a lava punch, you die.
That was what his only thought at first, but he could not reply that. It would be too cruel. So he glanced at the girl again and shrugged.
|☀| —- “Dunno… When their heart stop beating?”
♜She had been pretty much silent after they had reunited with their nakama. After the funeral she hadn't even talked one bit. Not with her siblings and with no one of the crew. Most of her friends and family tried to coax her into talking. But it didn't seem to work. Nele had regressed to the silent girl who she had been before she bonded with her Nakama.
She walked around only at night so she wouldn't meet much of the crew. Nele's keen red eyes noticed Eddie in the darkness. The brunette thought about it and eventualyl decided to sit down beside him.
"When do you think people die?" it was the first time she had spoken in weeks. The first time she even started the conversation or sat down beside someone.
Still there was no emotion displayed in her eyes or in her voice.
If he had replied with the first thought about the magma fist the girl would have probably started to cry. She had been there with her Nakama after all. She had witnessed it all.. and she did feel so unbelievable guilty.
"Maybe.. but they die if we forget them.. if there is no one to remember the people who die.. they will be forgotten and no one will remember them.."
