Schmidt. 124 East 80th Street was built in 1930 for Clarence Dillon, a financier and founder of the investment bank Dillon, Read & Co. . Clarence Dillon was both a Francophile and an oenophile. He purchased an apartment in Paris in 1929 and spent part of every year there until well into his 80s. In 1935 he also purchased Château Haut-Brion, the famed French wine producer for over 2.3M francs. .
