There is a stuffed dog on stage lol. #neonsteepletour (at Hobart Arena)
That @hankbentley tho #neonsteepletour @crowdermusic this wins the internet
Few things can top a live music event. Tonight, I got to see one of my favorite artists perform in a very cool venue. Crowder was finishing his #neonsteepletour tonight in ATL, and I bought tickets almost 6 months ago...like the day they were released to the public because I was that excited!! Capital Kings and All Sons and Daughters were the opening acts, and they were phenomenal! I loved how the lead singer of All Sons and Daughters described the tour: "If Capital Kings is the neon, we are the steeple. And then, somehow, Crowder comes out and blends the two together, and it all makes sense." The show was at The Tabernacle, which as I learned tonight is actually a converted church!
Anyways, Crowder is starting to get a new following of sorts since the last few Passion conferences when he started playing with his new band. At Passion 2014, he announced he was working on a new cd...I almost died of excitement! It was a very sad day for me when the David Crowder*Band announced they were done making music.
I have always appreciated great songwriting. I know it's not related at all, but have you ever actually listened to Eminem's lyrics? There is a lot of creative genius to them. (with the exception of the oft overused cuss word, but overall, he can write a song!)
Well, Crowder, has always been that musician for me. From the very beginning, the words were practically written for me! Then the cd, Remedy, was released...guys...game changer for my life. It came out shortly after my parent's divorce, and it provided the backdrop for me while I processed that whole mess. As noted in a previous post, it has inspired a piece of jewelry I wear daily. It is the same inspiration of a future tattoo, should I ever go that route. It was God reminding me that I can't do life alone. I have to rely on the overwhelming and free gift of God's grace in order to survive this life! Sometimes events in our life cause a hurt so deep that we simply don't have the words to express the emotions raging in us. Sure, I can read the Bible and pray, but I've found one way God speaks truth directly to my heart is through song. Which is really amusing because I can't carry a tune in a bucket and I'm not exactly musically talented. It's just something I get to appreciate. There's no striving to be the best or learn a new skill because they are skills I do not have. It's simply God's word in a different format. I don't know what has happened in Crowder's life or where he gets some of the words for his songs, and I think there is a beauty in not knowing. It removes the comparison factor. All we can do is respond to the incredible theme of God's grace that is woven through the songs. It's a grace that is meant to rescue, repair, and redeem. It's also a grace that is so glorious, there is only one source from which it can come...an unrelenting God who lavishly loves his children!
So, let's celebrate our God with a good ole guitar-pickin' hoedown on the front porch!
"This is my resurrection song. This is my hallelujah come. This is why it's to you I run. There's no space that his love can't reach. There's no place where we can't find peace. There's no end to amazing grace. I am holding on to you. I am holding on to you. In the middle of the storm. I am holding on to you. I am holding on to you. In the middle of the storm. I am holding on to you. In the middle of the storm, I am holding on I am." ~I Am by Crowder (emphasis added)
