Name: Red Blargg
Debut: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
We all know about Blargg here, right? Are we all familiar with that enemy? If you need a refresher, that’s okay, because I have one prepared!
So this is Blargg. Blargg is a dragon that appears in Super Mario World and lives in the lava! We’ve talked about a number of their relatives before, but I don’t know if we’ve ever talked about Blargg itself. Where here it is! Take a nice look, because you’ll need to!
As you can tell, Blargg is already red, right? In the artwork, it looks a little orange, but eh! Orange is just red when it gets too yellow. But apparently, those jokesters at Nintendo decided that as soon as you apply the adjective “red” to Blargg, then it stops being a dragon and becomes... a weird sock puppet thing!
Red Blargg more or less serves the same purpose as Blargg! They pop out of lava and stretch out their mouths, but they look much, much different! Now I do not mind this change, since really a blob with a silly, grumpy face is pretty irresistible, but clearly Nintendo has a bunch of goofballs if they felt the need to attach this enemy to Blargg! Maybe Blargg was just too hard to draw with Yoshi’s Island’s new visual style?
If you want a good cross between the Blargg and Red Blargg, then Yoshi’s Story has you covered. That game is all sorts of weird! Ah, early ‘90s cg technology. How I love you!
Name: Nep-Enut
Debut: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
And if you want a Blue Red Blargg, there you go! I feel we’re about three or four degrees away from “Blargg” at this point, and Nep-Enut doesn’t even reference Blarggs in the name, but hey. If there was a big Blargg family reunion, you figure Nep-Enut would be there. Nep-Enut traded “ability to live in lava” for the “ability to be really, really big” which I’d probably consider a good trade, considering they prey on Yoshis and babies. That’s right, guys! Stronger color variants are not restrained to the RPGs!
Daily thing #1481 (Subject)
Nep-Enut’s appearance through some Yoshi games.
Apparently this thing is called Nep-Enut, I always assumed they were all just called Blargg 😅
nep-enut replied to your post: I wouldn’t have any regrets if people didnt react...
Violently?
Yeah as in they get really mad at me. Not violently as they hit me or anything.
