I always liked the anime illustrations in the original NES Zelda manual, and it saddened me to find out these weren’t actually part of a real animated promotion for the game. So I decided to take those illustrations and re-create them as if they were!

about a month ago I started replaying all Zelda games in chronological order and ever since then I've been toying with the idea of drawing all/most of the incarnations in some cohesive manner.
I've now finally settled on these Mucha-inspired diptychs, starting of course with the game that started it all!

More NES Zelda for the 40th Anniversary! This is one of my favorite artworks for The Legend of Zelda that I've completed; it came together well I think! It was also my first experience using Krita instead of Sketchbook, and is why I'm currently illustrating my Assembly of Animals book in Krita. (I still use Sketchbook a lot though both are great ^u^)
I had some fun placing a handful of references into this scene alongside Link and Zelda from Zelda 1. (The true og Zelda ship haha) >u< Link got to wear a proto-royal guard uniform as a treat because the blue and red reminded me of his tunic colors in-game! (also blatant reference to modern LoZ is blatant =D). Let me know what y'all think!

A Zelda theory/headcanon I've had for years, and one that I've never seen anyone else come up with, is the idea that Zelda 1 Princess is NOT the reincarnation of the girl we get in every other game. Instead the reincarnating soul was trapped in the Sleeping Zelda all this time.
So anyway, I like to think that Zelda 1 Zelda earned the Triforce of Wisdom by screwing over Ganon in a similar way the Hero of Winds earned the right to be a Hero.
(Tagging Linked Universe and Wisdomverse because those AUs are what got me thinking about this old headcanon of mine.)

Some days the brain thinks it can achieve any art style with ease. This is a lie. That bastard is once again lying. An absolute traitor.
Since I'm not a cringey ai bro, love the craft and want to improve, I figured its high time to sit down and try things I hate drawing. Guess I was too comfy with my brushes and current flow, and we are long overdue from some actual improvement.
