using arguments from tcw (and larger disney canon) as some sort of gotcha for a standalone saga-canon (yeah, if you cannot use the saga itself to make your argument, then you are saying gibberish to me, buddy)

forgetting what the story is actually about, and refuse to sit with your comprehension of the saga for more than 2 seconds

a vent

idk why I am putting myself through the ao3 vaderdala tag again. so many of them are so ooc, and padmé is often so much more ooc than anakin.

she either hates her husband or she has no faith left in his goodness, or she is a docile caricature or she is a damsel in distress. I am like—who in the actual fuck is this padmé because that's not who we see in movies.

not to mention that anakin becomes a snarking husband after he turns vader, when literally all vaderdala scenes have him still tender and soft like anakin, except for his own oocness at mustafar.

and then I realise that literally so many of them (going all the way back to the earliest fic as I read oldest —> newest) have awful infestation of tcw characterisation.

suddenly the heavy oocness all makes sense.

the thing to understand about vaderdala is that padmé won't give an eff about vader if there is no anakin in him. she loves and believes the anakin in canon vader. in any canon divergent au, it'd be the same. and in raised as sith au, vader would have to actually show/awaken the anakin in him for padmé to give him time of the day. seeing as for who and how she fell in canon, the same sincerity, passion, devotion, and honesty would be needed. she'd have no time or attraction for the dark or morally grey vader, sorry.

I always suspected but finally googled today to confirm that Ahsoka's name is indeed derived from Indian king Ashoka's (called Ashoka the Great historically and pronounced Ashok without the "a" sound) who laid down weapons and adopted Buddhism after witnessing the suffering caused in his bloody conquest of Kalinga (modern day Odisha in India). He then sent his children to other parts of Asia to spread Buddhism.

Ashoka can be broken down into "a" + "shoka" where "shoka" means "sorrow" and the prefix "a" sound means "without". So the name means "without sorrow". And that's what Ahsoka's name means too.
