I hated the whole Missy-Nethersphere-Cyberman story arc from DW series 8

six years later and I still think it makes no sense

BUT

the idea of always-dying Rory getting zapped to the Nethersphere and then out again over and over is one that I will never not find hilarious

the staff in the receiving office thinks it's a glitch at first

he keeps getting sent back just as they finish all his paperwork

as an atheist, Rory is very confused but just sort of rolls with it

he ends up on first name basis with all of the staff

eventually they stop even trying to fill out the paperwork because "it'll never stick, so why bother?"

The smell of the street was horrid. Let me try to explain: it smelled like a fish took a shit and promptly died, fish and shit decomposing together in revolting harmony.

This description of a smelly street just popped into my head today. I like it so much that, at some point in the story, I’m going to have a character walk down a smelly street just so I can use that description.

Mondays

In celebration of a Monday happening next week, I thought I’d share the current opening of Chapter 4 of the book I’m currently writing:

“Mondays. Kendra hated them. It’s bad enough that there are Tuesdays and Thursdays, but Mondays are the worst. If you have experienced Mondays before, then I’m sorry, and you can probably sympathize with Kendra on the matter. If you have not experienced Mondays, then you must be a newborn baby, in which case, welcome. Glad you could join us. I hope you are well. If you need further clarification on the terribleness of Mondays, here’s an analogy: imagine the food you hate most in this world—probably overly saturated pickles. Now, imagine if a Titanic-sized boat was filled entirely with those overly saturated pickles. And then (on a Monday, of course) you were forced to eat all those pickles in one sitting, while your bratty cousins live streamed you online and all your childhood bullies pelted you with frozen vinegar. That’s how bad Mondays are.”

Headcanon: Missy has a special section in the Nethersphere just for the Doctor and his companions. So when the Doctor regenerates, his previous regeneration isn't lost forever. He can live on in paradise reunited with all the people he thought he lost.
