Wanting the villain in your villain/hero ship to go on a redemption arc is so much more straightforward than all this nonsense about pretending the hero is ~just as toxic and abusive actually~ or ~her marriage was just as toxic actually~ when the villain is... a creature bent on total genocide, gleefully and remorselessly determined to consume every human life and then extinguish the entire species in the act of propagating itself. The way enjoying a nice redemption romance has been systematically beaten out of fandom has made shit so much worse lolll
