1/9 Races of Viridian

These brightly colored, semi-aquatic people are Nevrans! They are a short and stocky race that live on the island of Kendyssi. They are seen as strange to the rest of the worlds, sometimes called Poison Skin (for their brightly colored pigments) or Wing Ears (for the appendages on the sides of their face).

Their race consist mostly of women, with a 4:1 ratio of women to men. Transgenders, sadly, are frowned upon but not persecuted. Nonbinary genders are 👌. They do not fear population declination due to reproducing differently than other species.

On their island is a Birthing Pool, inside an inactive volcano. Long strands of seaweed like plants that stretch from the bottom, grow their "eggs". When one detaches itself from the plant it will float to the top to show it is ready.

The couple intending to raise the baby, (the genders (or races) of the parents don't matter) will place their hands on the egg for a solid hour or so, and for the next week cannot part from it. At the end of the week the baby will emerge. Children are often named after colors.

Somehow the population of the island has remained the same for centuries. When one person dies, another egg is immediately found at the pool's surf.

Nevrans' gods are Mermaids, who circle around the island. They are as tall as cliffs and will actively communicate with Nevran priests. The main Mermaid, and most talkative, is Chal. The Nevrans believe the Mermaids are responsible for the Birthing Pool and for all of their lives. They also believe in Nirvana, which will only be reached when they have learned all they can about the universe.

They typically have jobs as Farmers or Scientists, Scientist which also act as priests and healers.
