Chapter 1 - Moon 9 - Green Leaf

During this Green Leaf the two apprentices spend almost all their time together, becoming inseparable besides going out for patrols. They are becoming more used to their version of clan life, with just the two of them providing for each other. Lazing in the hot sun and cuddling during the sweltering nights has become the norm.

Early on in the moon, when Charpaw goes on patrol they come across a set of tunnels and start to explore. They come face to face with a fox. The two creatures stare each other down and Charpaw slowly backs away, leaving unscathed.

Later, on Galepaw's patrol he hears the sounds of a mewing kitten on the wind. He follows the sporadic cries to a mossy outcropping of stone. Underneath it is the cold body of a queen and a gasping kit. Galepaw tries to help the kit, but fails, it was barely hanging on in the first place. He sits there for hours- feeling paralyzed and questioning how he can call himself a healer. By the time dusk arrives Charpaw tracked his scent down and sits with him while he cries. Galepaw has reached the age of 12 moons.
