I will be the first to admit, sometimes the studio gets a little messy. Between the drifting piles of faux fur, resin chips (they're worse to step on than lego) and discarded painting rags, things can get a little cluttered. Which, is probably why we didn't notice that my three-foot spider pal Tuna, was carrying something around.
I'm all for motherhood, but a family of very large, very fuzzy, very inquisitive spiders in the office has not helped productivity. Did I mention Bones is arachnophobic?
These hairy little babies are roughly a foot across, and are fully articulated. As always there's no wire in them, and their ball and socket joints give them a realistic range of movement. They can hold small objects, wave hello, steal your craft supplies, climb up shelves and hang off your light fixtures if you let 'em. (I have no idea how you train a spider, so good luck with that.) Their heads are cast resin from our original sculpt, hand painted and sealed to match their faux fur jammies (I mean bodies... they just look like they're wearing jammies). These three are up for adoption in our shop, and we’ll have a few more with us at Anime North this coming May!
http://wormsandbones.com Any cryptologist worth their salt knows about pygmy unicorns. Honestly, they’re not even that hard to find if you know where to look (that business about using ‘fair maidens’ as bait? Baloney. Total baloney. You get much better results with a sack of whole oats). Not that we’re in the right hemisphere for those - or so we thought. Honestly I thought I was just feeding the squirrels. Turns out there MAY be a subspecies... They’re still diminutive in stature for a unicorn at roughly 11″ long, and 8″ tall, but they’re definitely well adapted to a northern climate, with a heavy fur coat, and shorter more cervine tail. Their ears are huge, and we can only assume that has something to do with bein’ no more than a mouthful for everything from hawks to foxes. These guys have a realistic range of movement, and can be posed just about any old way you can envision. They can sit, stand, lie down, stretch out or curl up, rear, prance and sass you from a variety of angles. Highland unicorn heads and hooves are cast resin from our original sculpts, hand painted and sealed. Their bodies are sewn from high quality faux fur (unicorns are appropriately veggie friendly), and assembled usin’ ball n’ socket joints. These first three are available for adoption online, and they are also available for custom orders. We’ll have a whole herd with us at anime north as well!
http://wormsandbones.com Okay, I am likin’ how these are painting up! Hopefully will have the first three highland unicorns to photograph tomorrow!
