Desk Warming
I’ve been desk warming for two weeks now. I’m glad I’m involved with Gunma Orientation, GAJET, and helping new JETs, otherwise I’d probably lose my mind. I didn’t think it would be so bad desk warming since I did it last year when I first came to Japan. But I didn’t start from the beginning of summer vacation because I came in July. My butt is numb!! I try walking around the school but it’s like a billion degrees outside the staff room! So I just watch the students play sports instead. I can only work so much on everything else for so long.
I feel I need some sort of vacation, but I’m going to America next month so that’ll work! I haven’t been back home yet, but it’s only been a year. I’m going to use Silver Week for my vacation. I do wonder what kind of reverse culture shock I’m going to have. I hear so many horror stories! I’m not sure how I’m going to react. I just want Mexican food! Legit Tex-Mex!! And QUESO! Some American sushi rolls (they don’t have Philly rolls, Blue Moon, Dragon rolls, etc., here). I’ll be bringing an empty suitcase just for American snacks!!!
I’m ready.
Side note: Helping JETs has been such an eye opener. It’s like everything has come full circle and I’m now looking at how I was last year. It’s nice to see how far I’ve come. Dear new JETs, just take everything as it comes. Don’t worry, you’ll learn with time. After about one month you’ll feel better or way worse; it’s up to you. You have to look at this with an open mind. You put in so much effort to get here. Now is not the time to start regretting things. I wish you the best! Enjoy your time here! お疲れ様。
