Old dog; new trick
We were 20 minutes into a two-week road trip when I experienced a vision: my battered but beloved electronic reader resting on my nightstand, accidentally left behind.
For half a second I considered busting a U-ee to retrieve my Kindle. I was deep into two good books - John Irving’s “Until I Find You” and the first book of Karl Ove Knausgård’s six-book memoir, “My Struggle” - and the prospect of leaving them for two weeks was not a happy one.
“Spit!,” (or a word that effect) I exclaimed.
Sharon inquired. I explained my problem. While I was slumped in despair, she was on her phone, checking to see if one, or both books, might be available on-line from our library in audio form. I could listen on my phone, or on my headphones.
It so happened they weren’t, but other books on my list were.
So, now I’ve discovered the world of audio books and I must say it’s a pretty good one.
