#newyear #newmedal #newdistance - the goal of all my races is to #notdie - and I'm still here, so I guess I won?!? #iwon #10miles but in all reality ... #cantmove ... #sosweaty #runninghurts #nyrr #nbbronx10m ... unsure I want to come back to the bronx ever ... #whstrong #nyruner #runnyc ... so for those wondering on the breakdown here ... my usual speed of 9.40 led me to wonder if I should follow the 10.00 pacer or the 9.30 . I opted for the 10.00. Started the race off strong and quickly passed the 10.00 group with my lightening speed of 9.18 ... and I thought to myself that lll quickly catch up to the 9.30 and this will be an easily run ... .and then at about the .30 mile mark that group quickly passed me as my 9.18 turned into a 11.16 ... and then 12.03 ... the 11.00 group then flew by me. I stopped for the bathroom at about mile 3.85, which meant standing on line for 10 minutes. When I got back to running I see I'm alongside the 11.30 group. Ha! I'm way faster than those slow guys! ... and then 11.30 passed me too. I continued the race following 11.30 . Passing them a few time but pushing myself to keep up with them for the most part. Ran miles 6-9 with them and then by 9 couldn't keep up, needed to walk a bit, Or rather just stand in one spot and pray the street moved for me... that plan didn't work well, turns out I needed to keep lifting my feet. And then I heard the guys next to me talking. He said they'd punch his friend if he walked thru the finish. He was about 12x my size. Terrified he'd punch me, I started running. Looking up and seeing yankee stadium, by far the greatest sight in the history of all things I've seen in this world. It's over. Almost over. My legs actually started moving (finisher photo in mind obvs) . And then at 1.51.55 I hit the stop button on my garmin . Average pace of 11.05 but most importantly. #notdead (at Yankee Stadium)
