@newgates - "Thank god, you're alive!" For Saboace?
Sorry this took forever. It sort of got lost in the pile among my projects, my bad.
"Thank god, you're alive!"
Ace turned just someone’s body collided into him, nearly knocking off his feet. The embrace only lasted a second before Sabo pulled away, placing his hands on Ace’s face. Sabo’s thumb smeared the blood that had dripped down his cheek, his eyes trailing it to the long cut Ace sported above his left temple. Eyes roamed, taking in every cut, bruise, and burn before Ace reached up to grab Sabo’s hands. When brown eyes met his gray, Ace gave him a reassuring smile.
“I’m okay” he whispered tightening his grip ever so slightly. Sabo’s eyes studied his, looking for an sign that Ace had been lying. But he came up empty, because Ace was okay. He was hurt, his head pulsed and he had a burn on his leg that stung like mad but he was okay. Letting out a shaky breath, Sabo pulled his hands away to wrap his arms around Ace again. Hands gripping, almost desperately, on the back of his shirt.
Ace wrapped an arm around Sabo’s waist and lifted his hand to his head. Gently he stroked his finger through the thick, blond waves. Ace wanted to melt in those pale arms around him, to let exhaustion take over, to let Sabo take care of him. But the clear shaking stopped him. So instead he comforted Sabo, silently with a firm grip and gently fingers. Ace trying to subtly ground him to the present.
Sabo had been terrified, of course. It wasn’t hard to see why aside from the obvious reason. All anyone had to do was glance at the young man’s face to get an idea. To feel the bumps and ridges along Sabo’s skin to know. Sabo could handle sitting by the fireside during the winter, he could handle storytelling and s'mores by the bonfire in summer. This? It was no wonder Ace could feel the hitch his breathing, the dampness that soaked into his shoulder.
Turning his head, Ace kissed Sabo’s temple. “I’m okay” he breathed, kissing Sabo’s head again “I’m okay.”
