My lovely fiancée has a degree in history and is my main source for when I need info about history. So when she learns a fact that astounds her my interest peaks.

I was not ready for what was about to unfold...........

My fiancée scrolling through TIKTOK: “ Oh so Christopher Colombus really did give something to the world”

To those who are not as lucky as myself to come across the knowledge that Colombus gave nothing to the world or have a lovely fiancée with encyclopaedic historical knowledge to tell you this I feel sorry and implore you to read more about this abhorrent man.

From our previous conversations usually establishing how horrible he was I was confused so my interest was peaked.....

Me: “What do you mean?”

Her singular word answered had me like a hook on a fishes mouth

My Fiancée: “Syphillis!”

Me: “Wait what?”

My Fiancée: “Colombus is the father of all Syphillis in the continent of Europe. Before going on his voyage and coming back there was no Syphillis anywhere in Europe”

Me: Omg hahaha, so he had adult fun times with some poor native person and got Syphillis and brought it to Europe?”

My fiancée: “Nope”

I was not ready for what unfolded!

Me: “Wait what happened then?”

Me being a biologist and having relative knowledge of such things was confused 🤷‍♀️

My Fiancée: “Llamas”

Me: “What?”

My Fiancée: “Llamas!”

Me: “Explanantion please?”

My Fiancée: “Before Columbus arrived in the americas, Syphillis was only found within Llamas”

It took a couple of seconds but then it clicked in my brain......

Me: “ So he?”

My Fiancée: “Yup!”

Me: “With the Llama?”

My Fiancée: “ Yuuuuupppp!”

The long and short of this story is Colombus either had his way with a Llama or a Llama had it’s way with him and he is the Father of all Syphillis!

So yes Colombus did give something to the world but not what people were indoctrinated to think!

I was today years old when I learned this and did not expect to go on such a wild ride so early in the morning, neither did the Llama probably hahahah........

Ugh 🤦‍♀️ not even humour can make this better
