The Spits are back, and this week, the monk robes and Ronald Reagan masks return to the road as the Michigan-born, veteran punks embark on a North American tour in support of their new album VI. This run is the band’s first full tour since 2019.
To mark the occasions, The Spits longtime spiritual brother and unofficial member, King Khan, interviews the core lineup of Lance Phelps (drums), Erin Wood (bass/vocals), and Sean Wood (guitar/vocals). The history between these two spans two decades with many billings together, collaborative recordings, and sharing time on In The Red Records.
The four men recap their history together and touch on topics such as their lives outside of music, channeling trauma into productivity, the love and support of Mama Spits, alien abductions across Michigan, the importance of the God Bullies in The Spits development, and the influence of native American philosophy among both parties. Khan’s tarot training, forged from one on one teachings with Alejandro Jodorowsky, is featured as he performs a reading upon the backgrounds of Phelps and the Wood brothers.
