After the second book and doing more research, i wanted to try and furhter my practice a little more. For this this experiment i wanted to work less with full narratives and landscapes, to focus on small single spread ideas. In this case, in the form of small poems.
After the research i did on Abner Graboff especially, I wanted to test how my textures and characters would fair under simple colour pages to create a new visual experience. I thought this was quite successful, it made me think more about the shading and tones of the characters when overlayed onto a block colour, and made the pages seem more lively in a way.
One thing i did get feed back on was the organisation of the colours per page, my intent was to make the colours random, but people seemed to prefer the idea of the colours having meaning to the poem or at least having an organised sequence of colours.
In all, it was an interesting experiment and was useful to get me away from my usual style of working, forcing me to expand how my characters can be put onto a page. I also found here that i enjoy creating poems to suite a situation for my blocks.
