Free trade was a good thing: it stimulated the economy, it made great connections between countries, and it was a good way to get interesting things from all around the world. So when this new country called America wanted to form a trading relationship, Luxembourg was more than happy to accept.
They were sending a company, the Virginia Company, to be their ambassadors, and the Duke and his men were there to greet them. They were a little late, but that was normal. So, he and his men sat at the docks; some men were playing card games, others talking, and the Duke had fallen asleep inside of the carriage. He was on his back, legs bent at the door, and he snored loudly. Only a knock stirred him from his sleep, but it also caused him to roll off the seat, and flopped onto the floor.
"What?" the Duke called, startled, and he pushed himself up from the floor.
"Your grace," a man called, "they're here."
The Duke quickly moved, only once hitting his knee of the seat, yelped in pain, and practically jumped out of the carriage. Once outside, he calmed himself, trying to look regal, and he smoothed out his front to look presentable. Once done, he put his hat upon his head, and approached the docks.
Lo and behold, there was the ship. It stood tall, and it didn't look much different from the ships he had seen. He knew it belonged to the Virginia Company because it was written along the side in bold paint-strokes. English--so there would be no language barrier. Perfect. The Duke looked up, and cleared his throat.
"Hello? And welcome to Luxembourg!"
