Former Starship Entertainment trainee and OneWish member Shin Doyoung made her first public appearance in six months yesterday outside the Mystic Entertainment company building. The 17-year-old idol briefly addressed the crowd, officially announcing that she was now training at Mystic and will be debuting in their upcoming girl group. A representative from the company later confirmed Doyoung’s statements and added that more information about the group would be revealed shortly.
The reasons for Doyoung’s hiatus are well-known not only to the k-pop community but to the public in general. As a Starship Entertainment trainee, she competed on the MNet survival show 36 Wishes and debuted in the resulting 12-member girl group, OneWish, in early 2017. OneWish quickly gained widespread popularity and fans were particularly drawn to Kim Myungjin, a Starship manager who became a regular and entertaining presence in the group’s vlogs. Kim Myungjin died on July 3 under what the Seoul Chief of Police described as “mysterious circumstances.” Shin Doyoung was the last person to see him alive, as Kim Myungjin had apparently called her into a meeting half an hour before his death. Though original autopsy reports indicated that Kim Myungjin died of cardiac arrest, the Seoul Coroner’s Office later discovered evidence of asphyxiation, leading the deceased’s family to believe foul play had been involved in his death. OneWish disbanded a week after the Coroner’s Office released its final report.
When asked to comment on the possibility of Shin Doyoung’s redebut, a representative from the Seoul Police Department emphasized that despite her proximity to the deceased at his time of death, she “is not being investigated as a suspect and should not be treated as such.” The Mystic representative echoed this statement, saying she “hopes fans are able to sympathize with Doyoung’s difficult circumstances and fully support her and her new group.”
Mystic Entertainment is home to Brown Eyed Girls as well as many solo artists.
(+820, -753) LMAOO can you imagine training for months to be a manager and being excited to meet your new artist and then fucking shin doyoung walks in
(+750, -35) the “doyoung killed her manager” jokes are not funny and never were. she most likely watched someone close to her die and y’all are still making memes about it??
(+520, -150) Has everyone at Mystic Ent lost their minds?? Why would they take on a liability like this? I feel bad for whatever girls get stuck in a group with her.
(+135, -642) even if they find out she did kill that guy i’ll still stan
