She was wearing that one dress, the one dress I could never lay my eyes off. The white reflected so perfectly across her skin, the grass that sat beneath her illuminating her earthy toned freckles and brown hair. Everything about her, she’s so perfect.
The breeze was light, whisping her longer pieces to float along her back and her bangs crossing over her face just barely laying on the top layer of her eyelashes. My fingertips graze the peach fuzz that sits along her flushed cheeks that just extenuate her freckles more.
The sounds around us is just the continuous breeze and whistling leaving around us. During the silent sounds of nature there also is the usual mourning doves coo echoing. It’s a common sound every morning that I’m fairly familiar with, comfortable yet nostalgic. A sound I’ve heard from my bedroom window as a kid whenever my mother would wake me up with opening up my window.
The doves coos and trills started to become more aggressive. More intense. Her expression and warmth never changed. The birds rattled more into my head breaking my touch from her face. The chirping sounded more of a rattling noise, it was constant. There was no nonstop. Flocks, hundreds of them but none in my sight. Her smile stayed frozen as if I was the only one hearing it.
I’m the only one hearing it.
“Steve!” I’m shot awake from, Robin standing at my bedside with her hand on my shoulder. “Dude we’re gonna be late for our shift let’s go!”
I can’t help but just groan. I didn’t think I was asleep, my dreams are never that vivid. That dream will probably haunt me all day, shit maybe all year.
I stumble around my room getting dressed, tying my shoes, and combing a thick slick back over my hair without gel as there’s clearly no time.
“Finally princess,” Robin smiles sitting on my worn couch. She can tell from my lack of interest in her antics that something was up. I just didn’t have the energy right now to cope.
“You had a dream again, didn’t you.” I white knuckle the steering wheel not speaking a word. “It’s okay to still be upset, but Steve it’s been months.”
“Yeah whatever,” I mumble under my breath. She hums, not hearing me fully. That was completely on purpose but I kinda hoped she’d hear. “Yes I did have another one.” I snap.
The car falls silent for a few moments. The high pitched sounds of the cracked windows whistling through our thick air.
“It was the last good date we had.” She looks to me. Her big blue eyes widen in sadness for me. I truly didn’t need her pity, she’s been suffering with me nearly all summer since me and her broke up. “It was the field picnic.”
“I’m sorry Steve. I think you just,” she stops, taking in a deep breath. “Nevermind.” The car falls back into the now empty, sad air for the rest of the drive to family video.

“Vicky invited me to a party later tonight. Will you go with me?”
“A party?” I cock a brow. Robin wasn’t one for parties, or large gathering for that matter.
“Yes you know I really like her and maybe this could turn into something.” She suggests.
“And you need me?”
“My wingman! Duh!” She laughs hopping onto the countertop. “Plus we can find you some hotties to lock down for the winter.”
“I’ll go, but not for the girl part.” She keeps her smile but rolls her eyes. I did not want to go to this party. I definitely didn’t want to see other people but for Robin to hopefully have her happily ever after, I can suck it up for a few hours.

“You lock the door?”
“Yes Robin look,” the door jiggles aggressively back and forth under my strength.
“Okay okay. I just can’t have people breaking in stealing my Back to the Future tapes!”
“And you’ve rewatched that..?”
“About a thousand times yes but it’s a film for reruns. Maybe you should try it.” I shoot her a dirty look, unsure of what she was insinuating with that comment but I’ll let it slide.
The car ride to Vicky’s party was more or less silly cat fights over certain directors cuts of films we liked and yet the other would rebuttal a whole different movie, it kept the drive short and distracted at least.
“Hey, hey Vicky!” Robin stutters greeting her at the door. Jesus we need a drink.
“Oh my god Robin! I’m so glad you could make it. You too Steve!” Vicky responds with her huge smile. Her cup swishing around and spilling onto her porch really tells me it’s that kind of party.
“I’m gonna go get us drinks. Stay with Vicky.” I yell, hoping Robin could comprehend a single thing I said. She just nods as Vicky takes her arm and drags her through the crowd eventually leaving my sight.
The kitchen weirdly wasn’t as busy as the rest of the place. The crowd sure circled around it, but wasn’t inside the cooped up area. The footsteps were creaking all the ancient floorboards and windows were unlocked and open to free the stench of liquor and cigarettes from the peeling wallpaper.
The options were between shots of vodka, a can of beer, or some concoction someone must’ve made. The bowl was the most drank thing explaining why everyone at that party seemed mostly gone. Beer works.
I turn holding my lukewarm drink and for a second a path opens up through the crowd of people. Holy shit.
There stood about five feet away was my ex girlfriend. Her brown hair maybe an inch or two longer than when I last saw her. Her usual blue skinny jeans and a striped short sleeve that fit her in every right place. She was beautiful.
My daydream fading as the crowd moved some more exposing the tall man stood next to her. His hand fiddling with her belt loops and her back pockets.
The lighting was fairly dark down the hall where they stood so I wasn’t able to really see his face at first. His hair seemed a light brown or blonde and to his shoulders. It was on the roughed up, frizzy side. But he had a tank top on with a pair of tighter jeans with silver chains hooked and swinging on the sides of his pockets. Oh shit.
“Is that fucking Billy Hargrove?” I say through the loud music. It was supposed to be an internal thought, oops.
I must’ve been caught staring because Robin breaks my glare grabbing onto my bicep and turning me around.
“Are you ready to go?”
“What?”
“I said..” the music bumps louder. Our eyes roll and walk towards the door. The only way to the door is that open hall where she stands at the end.
She was sitting alone on the only free chair in the packed living room. Billy was beside her but sitting on the couch with another guy and a girl. His attention was more on the other woman than his own, it burned through my chest to watch her seem out of place. I never made her feel that way.
Through the dim lights our eyes lock on each other. Her gaze calling for me, for me to sweep her away from Billy and leave this shit hole.
But nothing happens.
She grazes her eyes up and down my figure and narrows her eyes before turning to Billy. Placing her delicate hands onto his shoulder caching his attention for a fraction of a second before he goes back to the girl across the couch.

“I saw them and I needed us to go.” Robin breaks the car drive silence. I sigh hard, that’s all I could say.
“He’s gonna treat her like shit Rob.”
“At the time you did too.”
“Fuck off!” I snap slamming my hand onto the steering wheel. “You don’t think I know that!”
Robins eye contact never breaks, never flinches. She’s too comfortable with me, she trusts me too much.
Im moving out of living with my sister and her boyfriend next summer.
And as much as I love her and she has helped me a lot… living with her long term isn’t good for me either. Even with my sister… I’m not really treated as an adult.
She’s not gonna like my plan. She’ll be mad. Think I’m reckless. Maybe I am. But I’m an adult. And once I’m out of university in the spring I can do what I want, free of my family. I can live the life I want.
i am obssessed with maneskin and i love their songs, but to be honest some fans PISSES ME OFF. since damiano changed his music style and has frequently said that he was not happy doing what he was doing and that now he was much more happy, some fans of the band now think it's cool to never give him peace.
if you are a fan of maneskin and you don't like damiano's new songs, that's absolutely fine. but please don't go on his social media just to complain and bother him endlessly, like no one cares if you believe he 'abandoned' maneskin or that he 'lied' or something about that when all he wants is to be happy and to do what he thinks it's better for him
some of the fans also love to always misinterpret him and just put words in his mouth saying that he is ungrateful or even saying that the fame got to his head, and that makes me absolutely furious. artists change their styles and do different things EVERYDAY. just because damiano isn't your "sexy rockstar" anymore, it's doesn't mean you have the right to harass him on the internet.
