Had a 2 day tournament this weekend. Did really good on the first day, but for the second day... Well at least I did good on the first day. Thankfully just my highest score of the 2 days counts toward the indoor season totals.

My mom is out here making up new acronyms to express how much she hates the videos I send to my family
another true archery story
so this one is pretty archery nerdy, but I Have To, ok?
the needs to know here are as follows:
during this, as most, archery competitions there are four people shooting at the same target bale. this saves space and is also how the scoring happens: one person calls out the arrow values. this person is either actually the least shy, or the second-most anxious about their mental math abilities. two people write the scores down, and keep a running tally. one of these people is Highly Competitive and wants to track the scores, the other person didn't realize just how hard it is to add to 25 under pressure over and over. (Weirdly challenging!) the fourth person is the "target captain," is either the least type-A (outdoor season) or has the worst target panic (indoor season), or has less than zero faith in their mental math (all seasons.) they don't do anything except settle disputes.
last need to know is the scoring - X is dead center, a bullseye. The X ring is a little more than an inch across on this target. Moving outwards, it's X-5-4-3-2-1. An X is still scored as 5 points, but the number of "bullseyes" is used for tiebreaking.
so!
I hate writing score, mostly because I fixate on it. I don't mind calling arrows, and no one tends to want to, so I do that. (except for outdoor. Oh God no.)
as you might imagine, there's an order to the targets for scoring, and we always go in order, A-B-C-D.
I have at this point been calling score, archer by archer, for two and a half hours and it is not even ten in the morning. I am so far beyond tired that the world is beautiful and fascinating. So I start with target A, and call the score, X-X-X-5-4, 24 points total. This is one point off perfect. Fuuuukin hell. I announce that this is a rating of swag. I've been doing that for over an hour.
Target B, also X-X-X-5-4, and I add that she clearly copied Target A's homework. There is an amused giggle from the other 3 archers.
Moving on to target C, now I am giggling also, because she has X-5-5-5-4, which is still 24 points, but not quite as good, however I add what I feel is very fair commentary, "Did her own research." Now everyone is laughing, we are all That Tired, and I say I HAVE ONE MORE, LADIES.
there is a distinct gleeful vibration, because by golly I can fake extrovert, especially when it's funny,
The last target is *mine*, and I call the score, X-X-X-5-3, 23 points,
......... "used Wikipedia as a reference."
😂😂😂😂
Yeah we got asked wtf kind of fun we were having, laughing that hard.
I snuck a photo for posterity (ssshh... Technically not allowed!)
