Sports Ruckus NFL Draft Grades: NFC East
The NFC East is probably the greatest Rat Race in football. Almost a different leader every year and it always seems to come down to week 16 and 17. But that’s why we love them. So we shouldn’t have expected anything less from them when it came to the 2015 NFL Draft. Each team did well, surprisingly, which will keep this Rat Race running until the end of time. Here are our Draft grades of the NFC East this year. Enjoy.
Dallas Cowboys found a stud in Byron Jones from UConn
Dallas Cowboys Needs= CB,DL,TE,RB Draft Grade= C+
With Dallas coming up 2 games shy of their first super bowl in 20 years, it goes without saying, they are more hungry for a Lombardi now more than ever. But in order for them to make the jump from the atypical “NFC East Rat Race Runner”, to Super Bowl contenders, some improvements were necessary. Drafting at 27th overall, Byron Jones was an excellent addition. Being very weak at CB, Jones should prove to be an immediate upgrade to Dallas secondary. He showed us at the NFL Combine, he is a physical freak and ready to broad jump straight through Dallas pretty new roof. Also noteworthy was Dallas landing Randy Gregory in the 2nd round. Since the loss of Demarcus Ware, the need for a dominant pass rusher was made very well aware. And Gregory was pretty much the guy you close your eyes and can picture when trying to place someone in that position. The young man has raw talent. The stuff you can’t teach. But the reason Dallas gets a C+ is because of the lack of RBs drafted. A total of 0. This was a huge gap to fill since losing Murray in the offseason. In Dallas most productive season in a while, it all spawned from a dominant run game. But now you put all that pressure on McFadden and Lance Dunbar?… Excellent. Dallas gains a big boost defensively in the 2015 Draft but leaves much to be desired offensively.
Giants traded up for Landon Collins from Alabama, was it a good move?
New York Giants Needs= Pass Rusher,OL,ILB Draft Grade= B-
NYG started the 2015 NFL Draft with a splash and finished just ehhh. Kicking the draft off with the selection of Ereck Flowers at 9th overall was the smart move. Flowers is every QB’s birthday wish. Great footwork. Strong. Aggressive in run blocking. This was ideal for NYG. I mean lets face it, were all starting to feel a little sorry for Eli every time we see him pouting on the ground. Another great selection was Landon Collins in the 2nd. This safety has great instincts and plays surprisingly well in the run game as well. NYG secondary has been hot and cold for a while now so the addition of Collins will hopefully add some stability. And finally NYG found a pass rusher worth their time. Drafting Owamagbe Odighizuwa (or however you spell his name) will prove to be a great long term decision. Odighizuwa is a great, young pass rusher with a superstar ceiling. Good job NYG, should keep the NFC East interesting atleast for another year.
The Eagles found themselves a sleeper in USC WR Nelson Agoholor
Philadelphia Eagles Needs= CB, S, OLB, WR Draft Grade= B+
Well Chip, this was your time to reveal your grand master plan. And although you didn’t nab Mariota, its probably for the best. You still managed to have a great draft. Nelson Agholor at 20th overall is perfect for Chip’s offense. A true Jeremy Maclin replica. Great route runner. Excellent off screens. Agholor is ready to walk in at the WR2 spot. Might even prove to be WR1. Philly’s secondary also received a major boost in a large array of competent CBs. From versatile Eric Rowe in the 2nd to a positive STEAL Jacorey Shepard in the 5th. One player that’ll prove to be boom or bust will be Jordan Hicks OLB out of Texas. The young man shows a true love for the game and very good in run stopping. The worry is his durability. With two season ending injuries, you have to ask yourself if he’ll even last long enough to be great. Especially since he was drafted in the 3rd but could’ve easily waited until the 4th or 5th. Idk Chip, well have to wait and see if this adds to your mad scientist legacy.
Redskins have signed first round pick Brandon Scherff
Washington Redskins Needs= Pass Rusher,DB,OL Draft Grade= B
We’ve been waiting Redskins… For what you might ask? For you to be competitive again. Ok that might have been a bit unnecessary but let me finish. After the 2015 NFL draft, Washington showed signs of life! With 10 total picks, Washington sought out to add talent in bunches. Starting with the selection of Brandon Scherff at 5th overall. Excellent. Its like the ye old proverb: “If your quarterback just isn’t cutting it, at least protect him.” And that’s exactly what Washington did with drafting the young tackle. They’re getting a true powerhouse with great lateral movement and a monster in the run game. Good pick Washington. Another good pick was the huge Matt Jones in the 3rd. Look out Momma, that’s a big boy! Solid RB that can really add that “punch them in the mouth” aspect to Washington’s rush attack. Granted the young man need to learn some patience, letting his blocks develop. But that can be taught. You cant teach 6’2 231lbs. Very good addressing some offensive worries Washington.

Sports Ruckus NFL Draft Grades: NFC South
SportsRuckus NFL Draft Grade
The 2015 NFL Draft is over and it’s time to act like we all know how this draft will pan out in the next 15 years. So here’s my contribution to the gas bag-ery.
NFC South
Atlanta Falcons Draft Needs: DE, LB, RB, TE
The Falcons understood their issue: the defense was bathroom tissue soft. This year they took another stab at rebuilding it by grabbing one of the fastest edge rushers in the draft: Vic Beasley. His first step is lightning quick and he still hasn’t reached his full potential. CB Jalen Collins could play a key role opposite Trufant. Collins is rangy, good in the bump and run and should fit well in Dan Quinn’s scheme. They’ve also bolstered their RB depth chart with Tevin Coleman. The most impressive thing the organization did on draft day was take care of the 5th round draft pick Grady Jarrett after his house had burned down. Hats off to the Falcons franchise and kudos on the draft choices.
Draft Grade: A-
Carolina Panthers Draft Needs: OT, WR, CB, TE
The Panthers draft reminds me of the reaction I had to the news that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman…I guess I get it but I honestly hope the directors know what they’re doing. Exhibit A-1st round draft pick Shaq Thompson. Ok, I get the idea-fast, physical and extremely talented but how will he be used? Linebacker, safety, running back, concessions guy, popcorn vender…Batman? The need was on the O-line…ask Cam. He’ll agree. They did grab Daryl Williams in the 4th but Donovan Smith was available to them if they passed on Thompson. Same question with Funchess but insert tight end or wide receiver and he looks more like the guy who makes sure you don’t run onto the field during the game. Funchess could be a real matchup nightmare at TE and could work well under the tutelage of Greg Olsen. The value pick was Artis-Payne in the 5th. Good back and fills a need. The jury is still out on this decision making…and on Affleck playing Batman.
Draft Grade: C+
New Orleans Saints Draft Needs: WR, TE, DE, DT
The Saints hit the reset button after a depressing 2014. Did anyone else see them trading Jimmy Graham AND Kenny Stills? With that said they had to make a selection from one of these big or speedy receivers like Parker, Strong, Agholor or Green-Beckham. They could trade up and grab Kevin White. YES! That’s the only option. So the Saints drafted the speedy…offensive tackle?? Wait, what? Andrus Peat is a really good pass blocker who needs some refinement in his technique and needs to be a more consistent but he can’t run routes or catch. Brees needs the protection but needs someone to throw the ball to a bit more. Stephone Anthony has a high ceiling as a LB but again, he’s not a WR. They gave a boost to their defense but went through the whole draft without drafting a pass catcher. They must really believe that Brandin Cooks is going to explode this year. Hope that works for you Drew.
Draft Grade: C
Bucs took Jameis Winston first overall
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Draft Needs: QB, OL, LB, DE
The Bucs ridiculous QB situation can’t be put into words. This is literally what Tampa Bay had prior to the draft: Mike Glennon and something called Seth Lobato who looks like a Starbucks barista. Lovie Smith had no other option. He had to take Winston. Yes, he has serious baggage but you can’t deny the talent. They also added to the OL by selecting Donovan Smith. Ali Marpet, a D3 offensive lineman, was a reach in the second but Day 3 is where they hit their value picks-specifically Kenny Bell. Watch for him to take a slot position. Lovie Smith had a vision and his management, scouts and the rest of the organization seemed to work in that direction. Let’s hope it pans out…and keep Jameis off of the tables.
Draft Grade: A

New Post has been published on http://nfldraftdiamonds.com/one-player-from-each-round-of-the-nfl-draft-that-will-have-a-great-year-including-projections/
One player from each round of the NFL Draft that will have a great year; Including projections
I wanted to put together a piece for our readers that showcases one player in each round, who we feel will ball out and have a terrific year. We also wanted to add in our projections of each player listed:
1st Round – This is easy for us, we feel Amari Cooper will be the next Rookie of the Year. We predict that Cooper will tear it up his first year. Prediction: 16/16 games started, 97 receptions for 1,488 yards and 11 touchdowns, and a Pro Bowl selection in his first year.
2nd Round – This one will ruffle some feathers, but we don’t care about that. I love me some Frank Clark and I feel that he will terrorize the NFC West. Prediction: 14/16 games started, 54 tackles and 8 sacks which leads all rookies.
3rd Round – The Buffalo Bills were hoping to land La’el Collins, but that didn’t happen. I think the John Miller the Bills third round pick will be a guy that dominates this year. I think he is able to take the LG position over. Prediction: 16/16 games started at LG, allows only two sacks the entire season, and launches Bills running back Shady McCoy to 1,500 plus yards.
4th round – Jake Ryan is going to start for the Green Bay Packers, mark my words. While at Michigan teams were scared of Ryan, so they ran away from him. When the team finally put him in the middle of the field, teams didn’t know what to do. Prediction: 12/16 games started, 89 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, 3 passes defended, and 1 interception.
5th round – Cedric Thompson of the Miami Dolphins will need to come in for the Dolphins after an injury to Louis Delmas. Projection: 10/16 games started, 75 tackles, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble recovery, 4 interceptions, and 2 touchdowns.
6th Round – Nick O’Leary of the Buffalo Bills dominates teams early in his career spelling for an injured Charles Clay. O’Leary and Clay in the later part of the season terrorize defenses the way Gronkowski and Hernandez did several years ago. Projection: 9/16 games started 44 receptions, 450 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns.
7th Round – Tre McBride was picked up later by the Tennessee Titans and he has a huge rookie year similar to that of Chris Givens the former Rams wide out. Projection: 33 receptions, 698 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns (3 over 50 yards each).

The 2015 NFL Draft could have many trades on the first day
ROUND 1 – 2015 NFL Draft – Potential Trades? ROUND ROUND PICK OVERALL TEAM NOTES 1 1 1 Tampa Bay 1 2 2 Tennessee Could trade for Philip Rivers? Could trade with anyone, but Rivers makes the most sense. He is a true veteran with ties to Ken Whisenhunt. 1 3 3 Jacksonville 1 4 4 Oakland I could see the Raiders trading back if there is good value on the clock. Teams will want to jump the Bears, and Redskins especially if there is a good DT there. 1 5 5 Washington 1 6 6 New York Jets Could trade up, because they need a quarterback. If Mariota slips expect them to move up. 1 7 7 Chicago Could trade up, there has been quite a bit of love for Marcus Mariota. Does this mean Jay Cutler could be available in trades? 1 8 8 Atlanta 1 9 9 New York Giants 1 10 10 St. Louis Rams love to make moves on Draft day, I could see them moving back though to acquire more picks. They have a solid roster, but were lacking consistent quarterback play, that should change with Foles. 1 11 11 Minnesota 1 12 12 Cleveland Cleveland has two picks they could easily package them up and move around in the first round. 1 13 13 New Orleans Saints now have two picks after letting Jimmy Graham go to the Seahawks. They could make some moves in the draft, but they need the help right now. 1 14 14 Miami Dolphins have been rumored to be in love with Kevin White, so could they move up to get their guy? 1 15 15 San Francisco 1 16 16 Houston 1 17 17 San Diego Bye Bye Philip Rivers? This could be the year the Chargers move on completely from their 2004 first round pick. 1 18 18 Kansas City 1 19 19 Cleveland from Buffalo – Like I said they have two first round picks, and they love to make moves as we seen in previous drafts. 1 20 20 Philadelphia Philly wants to get Mariota, but they may be the team that stays put in this draft. 1 21 21 Cincinnati 1 22 22 Pittsburgh 1 23 23 Detroit 1 24 24 Arizona This could be used to acquire Adrian Peterson? 1 25 25 Carolina 1 26 26 Baltimore 1 27 27 Dallas This could be used to acquire Adrian Peterson? 1 28 28 Denver 1 29 29 Indianapolis 1 30 30 Green Bay 1 31 31 New Orleans from Seattle – Two picks, so anything is possible when you package them together. 1 32 32 New England
Could Philip Rivers be traded?
