Death, taxes, confusion regarding goaltender interference.
If you have ever been puzzled by a goaltender interference call, we have the guide for you! https://buff.ly/4fApD4N
Why do refs kick people out of the circle during a faceoff?
Wikipedia explains this better than I can.
From the "Face-off" article:
An official may remove the player taking the face-off if the player or any players from the same team attempt to gain an unfair advantage during the face-off (called a face-off violation). When a player is removed, one of the teammates not originally taking the face-off is required to take the face-off. Common face-off violations include: moving the stick before the puck is dropped, not placing the stick properly when requested to do so, not placing the body square to the face-off spot, or encroachment into the face-off circle by a teammate. In the NHL, the player from the visiting team is required to place his stick on the ice for the face-off first when it takes place at the centre-line dot. For all other face-offs, the player from the defending team must place his stick first. Before the league's 2015–16 season, the visiting player was required to place his stick first on all face-offs.[3] A player who does faceoffs as a specialty is sometimes called or deemed a Face-Off Specialist.
Basically, there are a few things you can't do on a faceoff (move your stick before the puck drops, not putting the stick down right, not positioning your body correctly, being annoyed by a teammate). If you do those things, the ref yeets you out of the circle. Some things, like covering the puck with your hand during a faceoff, are actually penalties, but those are incredibly rare.
NHL rule #1
Once per game, the Flyers are allowed to pick one (1) player to sacrifice to Gritty to appease his blood lust
The NHL rule book doesn’t differentiate between goalies and skaters yet play often gets stopped when players lose skate blades. Just another unclear rule by the NHL. Also for those who were saying Tuukka wouldn’t get penalized for taking his mask off, yes in fact he would. This has actually never been a question; it is a delay of game/or a penalty shot and always has been.
NHL rule #3
Tom Wilson is automatically suspended at the beginning of every game. He will still serve penalty time for anything we can blame him for
is goaltender interference a real rule in the NHL or did Big Gary make it up to disallow any goal he doesn’t like?
the goalie interference rule is one of the simpler rules in the NHL, but it has been widely misconstrued by inconsistent calls and extenuating circumstances, muddying the waters of what is and is not goalie interference. almost every time a coach’s challenge is based on goalie interference, whether the goal is overturned or not, it sparks debate among fans and media members. there seems to be a general confusion surrounding the goaltender interference rule, with many fans admitting that they cannot tell what is or isn’t goalie interference when watching games.
so what is goalie interference? let’s simplify!
Google has been no help - I thought the NHL didn't allow diacritics on jerseys but 2 of the leafs have umlauts. Anyone have any ideas??
