I had a visceral reaction reading it :0 couldn’t stop thinking about what they might look like so I drew my interpretation of them

Weeping, crying, coughing, sweating. Gagging and feeling like throwing up. Saliva running down a whumpee's arms as they clasp their hand over their mouth. Red, stinging, puffy eyes. Tears rolling down their cheeks. Reaching out their quivering to the whumper asking forgiveness, begging to not be left alone.

"shh..it's ok it's ok.. whumper isn't here... It's just me," caretaker opening their arms the scared whumpee.

Caretaker holds the wet, shivering mess in their arms while slowly running their hand through whumpee's hair.

I’m on my bullshit again :v ….sailor whump?

I like the idea of whump involving a cabin boy who somehow got stuck on a boat with really scary sailors.

He tries his best to keep his head down and not attract any attention to himself. But all his efforts fails as the crew torments and mistreats him. They give him endless arduous tasks and ruin his work just as he is finishing. They make him restart over and over again. Then they might lock him in the shed each time he shows an inch of irritation. They leave him in there for what feels like forever, acting like they forgot he was in there.

They often treat him as a punching bag, being the weakest and smallest on the ship, they all take their boredom out on him.

Some nights, he would sneak out, staring over the ledge into the dark water, thinking he should just jump in.

One day a pirate ship raids their ship and takes the crew hostage. The cabin boy is worried because he’s heard some really horrible rumors about these pirates. He wonders how much worse they might be compared to his own crew.

The pirates offer him a job cleaning their own ship, since they don’t have anyone doing that job right now. He accepts, scared they might hurt him if he says no.

The pirates unintentionally scare him over and over, but he soon realizes that they aren’t as bad as the stories say. They give him a little cot to sleep on. It was comfortable, especially compared to the supply closet his old crew would stuff him into at night.

They end up discovering the bruises and would the cabin boy had from his time with the other crew, and they treat him. Soon enough, he starts sleeping better and even starts enjoying the oceanic view, not just seeing it as a way to end it. They even give him hope that he will be able to return home someday.

framed whumpee?

desperately trying to convince friends, family, and colleagues of innocence

realizing that nobody actually has whumpee's back, feeling betrayed and deeply devastated

whumpee scrambling to redeem their character in the eyes of others

whumper holding a deciding piece of evidence, just right out of whumpee's reach

whumpee starting to lose sight of themself, believing that the things people are saying about them might be true

struggling to sleep at night, imaging all the worst case scenarios if nobody believes them

caretaker having to deal with whumpee who constantly pushes away, afraid to build trust again

slightly horrific idea uhhh.... poor lil whumpee who is a mascot. They were hurt and bleeding underneath their costume. They’re limping a bit but trying to appear normal and cheerful. Very quietly crying under a seemingly cheery character as every movement grinds at their wounds. Everyone around is unaware and interacting with the mascot happily while whump suffers inside.

Thinking up some possible whumpers :0 maybe their boss did this to them. Or maybe their boss only cares about the company image and told them to suck it up.

Maybe they are running from the whumper who caused this by hiding in the mascot.

Could also be whumperless and they just got hurt but still need money and have nobody to support them :(

Rivalry in whump?

Whumpee has a rival in life. Could be at work, school, or elsewhere.

Whumpee and Rival would never admit it, but they both live off the competition. It’s so engrained in their daily lives and mindsets that you would think they are on the way to a rivals to lovers situation.

But somewhere along the line, Whumpee experienced a traumatic with another whumper. Maybe an abduction or something. They are released or escaped back to their daily life and are completely shaken with bruises and a broken mind.

The rival doesn’t quite catch on at the beginning and accidentally makes Whumpee’s life miserable. The rival was just doing things they were normally doing but now it seems like full on bullying.

At some point they notice that Whumpee is not reciprocating. They try something really mean to get Whumpee’s attention but instead find a wound. Rival is horrified and wants to get to the bottom of what happened to whumpee

I can also see this fitting well into a hero villain type story

It’s the little things.

When a whumpee can’t stop shaking any time anyone gets close to them.

Especially if it’s a caretaker trying to help out with some first aid equipment but it’s reminding them too much of the tools their whumper used.

Even better if there’s a needle involved cuz body will definitely go in to fight or flight . Whumpee gets worried that their shaking will mess up the injection and cause several redos

Whumpee generally knows they are being unreasonably scared because the caretaker is trying to help, but they can’t stop shaking

Thinking about eye movements

Quivering, shaky eyes

When a whumpee is so tired me can feel their heavy eyes. They were told to stay awake but their head keeps bobbing. They don’t even notice they’ve fallen asleep until their body jerks them awake in fear.

When eyes are puffy from crying and they look like they’re half closed. Whumpee puts their head down so no one can see how puffed their eyes are

Trying to read the whumper by glaring in their eyes but not sure which eye to look at, so it becomes very uncomfortable

Being afraid to make eye contact with anyone, so much so they are forgetting what peoples faces look like
