A/N: Hi! I just got back from reading Braided Together, and I think that chapter was really cool! I’m pretty sure that either the person who wrote Coexist, the person who wrote It’s Hard, or myself came up with the notes idea, by the way. It was kind of a blurry timeline. Anyway, I said I’d write this, so here goes!
“What is this supposed to prove, Benjamin?"
Krupp looked up at the chained Captain Blunderpants from the other side of their shared mindscape. Holding on to his own chains, the principal replied, "That you can’t keep doing this. This body belonged to me first, and I don’t want you using it to hurt people or commit crimes. If keeping you like this is the only way to avoid that, then I’ll- Argh!"
Captain Blunderpants yanked on the chains from his end, causing Krupp to hit his knees in an effort to regain control. "Do you really think that? You’re suffering. More than you would be if we’d stuck to the initial arrangement."
Krupp stood up again, growling. "Of what? Me having to wear helmets and carry umbrellas around? Me having to strap your masters’ hands to keep you from coming out? Me reading about another crime you committed and being unable to act? I’ll do this forever if it means that goes away. Now make yourself comfortable, because if I can help it, you’re not coming back out."
Captain Blunderpants chuckled. "I didn’t think you had it in you, Benjamin."
Krupp ignored the villain in favor of paperwork for about an hour when he had to fight off another savage assault. "What are you doing?” he hissed to his headmate, pulling on his end of the chains. “You know I’m going to win."
Captain Blunderpants smiled. "Yeah, I know. I also know it’s getting harder and harder.” A sneer disfigured the villain’s face. “And you can only hold yourself at bay for so long."
"You aren’t giving me enough credit, Cap. I can do this as long as I need to."
"Pfft. Can you? Even if it means you lose your chance with the lunch lady?"
Krupp clenched his teeth. "Shut up."
"Aw, what’s wrong, Krupp? Are you scared I’m going to hurt her if I get out? Frightened of the possibility that I mean you’ll be alone forever? Worried that she’ll know the truth and only see you as an evil monster?"
"Shut. Up,” Krupp repeated, tensing.
“Why should I? It’s not like I’m wrong. You’re afraid of me because if I ever take control, you know it’s over because deep down, you know you and I aren’t so different. And who knows? She’ll probably feel the same way."
Anger coursed through the principal’s half of the mind. "Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP!"
Before Krupp could stop himself, power struck Captain Blunderpants, who screamed. Krupp, once the moment had passed, stated in horror and reigned his anger in, only to hear a wheeze and a laugh. "What did I tell you? Not. So. Different."
The paperwork took a lot longer than it needed to after that.
This was brilliant FL! Love the struggle that’s going on and you brought up some interesting ideas! By the way, maybe you should bold you author notes, just for the sake of not getting them mixed up with the story?
I needed this during some difficulties on tumblr. Thank you. :) (and thank you for that comment on ‘Braided together’) Sorry to keep you waiting.
