Stuka Jr. vs Hechicero lightning match

Who’s Who?

Stuka Jr is in blue pants with a matching blue mask/white with silver eyes.

Hechicero is in black with red straps and a stylized H on his belt. 

Hechicero is currently holding the NWA World Historic Light Heavyweight Championship. If Stuka gets a win here he could possibly have a championship fight at a later date with Hechicero. 

How’s the match?

Unsurprisingly good, Stuka and Hechicero are both good workers and they could have done this blindfolded. Stuka Jr. has normal polished performance here. I’m a big fan of Hechicero’s finisher and it’s always nice to see it even when it’s used to beat someone as talented as Stuka. I’ll almost always recommend a lightning match because they are normally only given to people who can pull off a good/great 10 minute match with each other. 

Ingobernables(Rush, Pierroth) and Sam Adonis vs Blue Panther, Diamante Azul and Valiente

Who’s who?

Rush/Pierroth are the father son team with matching trunks and boots, Rush in white while Pierroth is in yellow. Sam Adonis their 3rd is wearing spray painted tights. 

While Blue Panther is in blue leggings and white briefs/boots, Diamante Azul like always is also wearing blue though he has a mask that is blue as well with silver trim and their third is Valiente in pink and also still wearing a mask.  

How’s the match?

Good though some may not be into the heavy brawling. The match starts out with Adonis jumping Blue Panther as he was making his entrance and has a very brawly feel for most of the fight. It’s all in service to the hair match Sam Adonis and Blue Panther will be having on next Friday's show. This was a decent trios match, but not as good as the main event. Which is why I skipped gifing this one. 

Los Guerreros(Gran and Ultimo) and Mephisto vs Caristico, Mistico and Niebla Roja 

Who’s who?

Caristico is in the all gold, Mistico in all white and Niebla Roja in all red. 

Gran and Ultimo are both in black and blue with Gran masked and Ultimo not. While their 3rd Mephisto is in block pants and a strange black fuzzy mask. 

How’s the match?

Great! This is probably one of the better matches in the Los Guerreros vs Niebla Roja feud. It’s a little odd that Mephisto was out with them instead of Euforia, but perhaps he is resting up or had to call in sick? I did find myself missing him since Los Guerreros did the Euforia splash spot twice. 

Mistico and Caristico had different colors which is nice. I think these two might become the CMLL Tag Team champions. It would fit well and the two can really dazzle as the showed at the end of this match with their duo dives on Ultimo Guerrero. Niebla Roja has looked weak in most of this feud and his performances haven’t really wowed throughout. I’m not hot on his canadian destroyer, his top rope finisher he used at the end of this match is much better if not terribly impressive. 

The undercard has matches worth checking out too with guys like Puma, Tiger, Sanson, Soberano Jr. and Titan.

Arena Puebla Report! 7/17/2017

Caristico, Euforia, and Diamante Azul vs Misitco, Volador Jr. and Pierroth

Who’s who?

On the poster and Youtube description it says Rush, but I assume he got injured or was sick. So his alternate was Mistico which is a natural fit being Pierroth’s next son. Still his inclusion might confuse some because he and Caristico dress too similar! Have a fight guys, it’s confusing and someone should change their look. 

Caristico has red eyes and that’s normally the best way to tell them apart, but for some reason Mistico’s pants have red trim which isn’t helpful at all. Pick a different accenting color! Caristico is teaming with Euforia in green/black Los Guerreros colors while Diamante Azul is wearing Blue as always.

On the other side we have Maskless Pierroth, his son Misito and the young unmasked man and 2017 Universal Champion Volador Jr. Another way to tell Mistico from Caristico would be that Caristico has a black shirt on for the first round. 

This is part of a tournament CMLL is holding, but it’s really not a big deal and just an event they are holding in Puebla as an attraction their. It’s a dynamic shifter like Incredible Pairs... which is why the teams each have 1 rudo with 2 tecnicos. 

How’s the match?

Fun, but it felt very house show-y which is par for the course for Arena Puebla most nights. The only matches that are immune from it are normally the title matches. Still Mistico/Caristico have really built a good chemistry together since Caristico came back. Here’s hoping Mistico(II) becomes La Sombra(II) or something as it would stop this Mistico/Caristico confusion and Ingobernables need to get their ranks up to 3 people to be a serious stable in CMLL no Offense to the duo or Pierroth and Rush. 

Niebla Roja vs Ultimo Guerrero

Who’s who?

Niebla Roja(Red Mist) is obviously the masked man in red while Ultimo Guerrero is the maskless leader of Los Guerreros.

This is another chapter in their long rivalry that started about 2-3 months ago when Roja left Los Guerreros high and dry refusing to attack his real life brother Angel de Oro in trios action. You can see Angel de Oro in this match acting as Roja’s corner man.  

How’s the match?

Good, much better than their other recent bouts. These two are obviously building to a blow off match so this feels a little like batting practice. Ultimo showed he can go last Friday when he and Volador Jr. clashed in the Universal Tournament Finals. So this feud will be a proving ground for Roja, does he have what it takes to be a big singles tecnico for CMLL? Or will he fall back down the ranks and become a stooge again? 

PS I’ll be going a little lighter on these recaps during the G1 Climax, but I will still at least highlight 1 match from each CMLL show. I’ll go back to highlighting 3 matches from each show after the G1 Finals.
