Okay, new tweak to Niffty’s origin story: Alastor wasn’t purposefully trying to break her. She was on his overlord hit list (maybe Rosie ordered him to target her, maybe he chose to go after her himself), but when she cracked under the torture/physically endured far longer than Alastor was expecting, he decided to spare her, just to see what she’d do. As he’s gotten to know Niffty over the years, he’s genuinely grown very fond of her. His “success” with her was part of the reason he thought attempting the same with Vox would be a good idea.

Not sure if Alastor is the only thing keeping RAM!Vox from going downstairs to celebrate his bestie's newfound fame (and see all the new guests!), or if Vox actually starts getting jealous of Niffty's battle glory. He helped too!! He doesn't remember if he killed anyone important, but... he was there!!! He definitely knows that he was there!

I see your ‘Vox regains his memories and returns to the Vees but remains mentally disabled’ and give you:

Through some series of events Vox regains his memories but any of the non-memory related directives Alastor installed in him stay in place. So Vox would be able to remember the Vees, all of the torture Alastor put him through, and his entire life/afterlife. But he would still believe he owes Alastor his life/never questions Alastor, he would never act on his romantic feelings, and he would believe everything is fine/there’s no reason to change. This would just be horribly fucked up because Vox would be Aware of his situation and how he got here, but would be physically incapable of considering it a bad thing or trying to fix it at all. I could see him adopting Alastor’s ‘what was done is for the best, Vox is happier like this’ mindset to cope. Great interaction possibility where he goes to visit the Vees now that he can remember them but refuses to stay with them and goes back to the hotel. Imagine Vel and Val getting him back, and he even has his memory back! Only to learn that he is still deeply in love with Alastor and is choosing to be with him over them, despite knowing what he did.

Random idea: What if Niffty's sinner name wasn't originally "Niffty"? What if she's so alienated from her past identity that she adopted a whole new name after her broadcast? What if Alastor was the one who actually made that choice, wanting to make his control over her even more complete?

Random idea for an episode B-plot: Niffty decides that Vox has sufficient bad boy potential and the two of them try dating. Hijinks ensue. By the end of the episode, they decide they’re better as friends. This is the most amicable end of a relationship that either of them have ever experienced (and, in Niffty’s case, the only one not to end in bloodshed).
