I finished "The Dream-Quest of unknown Kadath" and other novels about the "dream world". I liked some of the creatures that could be found there including Nightgaunts. I think these are my favorite creatures so far

Dreamlanders

A lot of the beings mentioned in the Dream Quest are barely described if they even get more than a name-drop. As I generally try to avoid Chaosium canon, that gave me a lot of freedom to do whatever I wanted.

The sniflunk is a particular case. It's almost entirely original, only known from the story by the mysterious webbed footprints surrounding Carter's exsanguinated riding zebra.

A Nightgaunt, for my dreamlands war militaria project. It wound up being made up of spider monkey, fruit bat, and emaciated buddha statue, with some insect notes for flavour.
