A few years ago I had a problem with dark patches of skin on multiple areas of my body. I had it on my ankles, knees, elbows and knuckles, but the worst of it was on my neck. I used to kept my hair long and I'd never put it up in a pony tail because I didn't want anyone to see my neck. No amount of scrubbing would get rid of the dark, dirty looking skin. I lived with my own secret shame for years until I made an unrelated decision to lose a bunch of weight by changing my diet and walking more than before. Long story short, I was able to reverse the effects of whatever type of "nigricans" I was afflicted with by losing weight. The stuff on my neck is pretty much gone. I still have some creases but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. The rest of my body is 100% clear of the dark patches, which is nice. Sorry for the unexpected images. I remember wanting to find some kind of hope that there was a “cure” for this and I hope my experience can help someone else.
