Nice, sounds good! Your city now has one (1) very tired centipede working there :]
I'm guessing the best place to put her forensics lab in would be Castelia, given that its the city centre?

"Yeah. You're also gonna touch some grass. It'll be great."
Nods and says this in a serious deadpan.
"Grass isn't that great. Experienced it before." Also said deadpan.
"Spoken like an amateur. You have much to learn."
"You're telling the person with a doctorate that he has much to learn?"
Ginger pretends to look thoughtful, then nods. "Yup."

“Leilei has a case of the big sads and doesn’t think she’s worrying anybody. She already knows how to fuck with her own soul; we both do. If she’d been calmer, she’d have done it just fine…so it’s a good thing she wasn’t.”
It’s why you elected to relieve her of that particular knife. Just in case she gets it in her head to try again.
Oh yeah, I can see all those points! I could see it being a lot easier for redbloods/greenbloods/bluebloods to all receive blood because they are the most pure castes in terms of pigmentation. But once you start getting castes with different levels of RGB pigmentation, finding a correct match becomes much more difficult or the body might reject it entirely
Jamie, how have you been settling in at the new place? Anything interesting going on?
"Interesting? Well, I watched Jiji get a few sparks in his face as he initially forgot to account for the Isles' magic being far more concentrated than much of the rest of Alternia. He was setting up my portal to the Takami Estate, you see, and didn't realize that at first.
I do confess I had a bit of sport at his expense and his retort was to turn my freckles green for a bit. Olive is not my color, I'll tell you that.
Aside from that...it's certainly different here. Jarringly so, but not in a bad way; I feel much safer and I'm certain Paxton does as well. I have Jiji working on portals for her, too, so she can visit her quadrants and friends."
You're her friend too, but she's something...more, to you, by this point. Not a quadrant; you have three, these feelings aren't ashen, and you only like men that way. But Vinh is terribly important to you in a way that's hard to define, and while you hope she can return home one night, you would miss her achingly if she did.
Actually, I am curious, Eileit. You're talking to an engineer student. Are you talking about a vessel to travel? Is magic a more sustainable fuel source for propulsion, or is it better because of space saved with fuel? What kind of design would the engine have anyway?
"...Oh?"
You get the feeling it's trying not to sound too happy. Trying to stay cautiously optimistic, just in case it winds up boring you.
"Well, both, actually. I want a stable portal gate I can adjust to different planets based on coordinates I can input. But I also want a small vessel for exploration and collection along with protective gear so I can explore properly.
The fuel is more for the gate itself, though of course the vessel will need some too. One can't always rely on solar power...what with varying night and day cycles, various different weather patterns, atmospheric conditions...different radiation types. Not every star is the same; you know that, of course.
As for an engine...well, the vessel would be more for on-planet travel, so the engine would be custom for whatever planet I was visiting, tweaked by samples collected before I took it through properly. Don't want to take it through just to have it instantly corrode or get eaten by bacteria that love to feast on some alloy I used in it.
If I found somewhere I wanted to stay a bit longer, I might also set up a station...probably a space station, for minimal impact to the environment. I'm not here to wreck ecosystems."
It's a tragedy that, being conquerors, all the Alternian fleet cares about is terraforming planets to suit themselves. All that variety lost...a terrible waste.
You don't want to be like that. You just want to visit planets that you haven't been to as a person and see them with these eyes. There's so much out there.
Does Hazard enjoy the holinights much, or does he just kind of keep to himself?
"Kind of depends on the holinight. Now that I have quadrants, I'm likely to spend it with Vil or Eirror...or if they're not available, a friend like Karell or Lizzie. I probably won't spend the whole night with them, but a few hours of company is nice before I go hive and read, usually curled up with my lusus."
You don't get lonely easily, but is nice to see your friends and loved ones. You're just as happy with a good book, though, to be perfectly honest, but you feel like that's a little mean to say. It's not that you don't value the people you know, you just like your peace and quiet.
Eileit, do you have any project ideas for the new sweep? Or are you just kind of working on things as they come to you?
"Oh, no, I have projects I mean to continue. Chief among them, creating a stable, fast method to travel between planets. It's a slow process, but I don't mind that. It's very interesting...to me, and anyone else who wanted to hear about spatial calculations, biotech fuel sources, and gravitational anchoring - quantum and physical. So, me, essentially."
You're not hurt by the fact most people could use information about your magical field as a sleep aid. A lot of magitech is unglamorous, incremental experimentation, aided by coffee and burying one's face in the nearest pillow when something refuses to work yet again.
