I’d only been in Rishikesh for two days, but I decided I needed to switch up the vibe already. I’d read about an area called Swarg Ashram, which was about a mile away and where The Beatles wrote most of The White Album. There are a ton of ashrams there, but honed in on Parmarth Niketan, said to be one of the largest spiritual institutes in India.

With over a 1000 rooms, the place is huge, but it had a nice vibe. I decided to chill for a couple of days and take advantage of their yoga classes, daily sunset river aarti and nightly talks.
