You were putting together some Mushroom soup in the kitchen. It was a particularly cold snow in the Tundra this evening. You have been used to the cold for a while, but today was off. Something was different somewhere in the world. You decided on some soup for you and Techno to eat to try to warm up.

You finished the brew and dumped it out in two bowls, giving Techno a little bit more. You weren't too hungry and Techno needed the strength more than you did.

He was scared of what the outside world would do to you. After the Butcher Army he was anxious that they would come back and take you hostage one day in an attempt to hurt him. He never wanted to see you hurt, so you stayed inside all the time. Your days were spent caring for the animals while Techno was out socializing with other members of the Syndicate and hunting. At night when he came home, it was just the two of you. He gave every ounce of attention he had all to you.

He knows what it's like to feel like a slave, and he didn't want you to feel any of that. But not being allowed to leave sure could be connected to slaverly.

You always knew that you could leave if you wanted to. Techno would put up one hell of a fight, but at the end of the day it was your choice.

You felt the table shake from some boom out in the distance. You shook it off and went down the hallway to sit down with Techno.

You turned the corner, “Hey, Tech! I made some-” You stopped mid sentence when you saw Techno staring off out the window. Pupils fully dilated out of fear. You set the soups down on the table and sat down next to him, “Hey, you alright?”

He didn't reply, not even flinch. He just kept staring out the window, a look of death played on his face. You’ve never seen him like this before. You met him after the whole L’manburg event. You’ve been told stories by Ranboo and Philza about what happened to him; how people tried to kill him and how he was forced to run away into the Tundra. The only thing he had to live for was The Syndicate, but now he has you to care about.

You placed a hand against his back, slowly rubbing up and down, “Tech… snap out of it. Talk to me.”

He jolted up and grabbed your hands, pushing you down on the couch and pinning them above your head. The first time since you met him, you were genuinely scared. Your face froze in fear, but your legs were active, trying to kick him off. After a few seconds of struggling, Techno dropped to the ground in horror.

“I-I'm so sorry!’ He stuttered out, pulling on his ears, “I’m sorry! I don't know what got over me! I-I-I would never hurt you. I-I’m-”

You cut him off, sitting on the floor with him, “It’s okay, I know you didn't do that on purpose. I just got scared, that's all. Don't worry about it.”

“Of course I’m worried!” Techno scooted away from you. “I scared you. I always tell you to be scared of the outside people, not me! D-Did I hurt you. Oh my- please tell me I didn't hurt you.”

You tried getting closer to him but he kept distancing himself, “No, Tech, you didn't hurt me. I promise you, look,” You held your wrists out to him, “You didn't even leave a mark. You’re alright. What happened?”

He shook his head, “I-I don't know. The noise got to me and I just fell into this like deep hole of somesort. I think I had a flashback? I don't know, it's all a blur to me.”

You think you had an idea of what was going on. You remember Niki saying something about Snowchester setting off fireworks in celebration of their one year for something. The noise must’ve triggered some PTSD in Techno.

“I think Snowchester is setting off fireworks tonight. Come here,” You pulled him up on the couch, “Just have some soup with me and relax. I think you weren't ready for them, that's all.”

“No,” Techno objected. “You should stay with someone else tonight, I don't want to hurt you.”

You shook your head, “That's nonsense, Tech. You didn't hurt me in the first place. It's not like they’re gonna be setting them off all night. Have some soup with me, Tech. It's our night tonight.”

“Are you sure? I'm so unpredictable right now.”

You nodded and took his hand, “Of course I’m sure. You’re the only person I want to spend the night with. If anything goes wrong I’ll get Phil, he’s just across the path.”

Techno squeezed your hand, “So uh, what type of soup did you make?”

Genuine question because i haven’t watched any streams from OSMP recently, but, Niki does know that waterbreathing works with Merlings, right??

I’m a Merling on [Untitled]’s side Originmod SMP, so i just have a double chest of waterbreathing potions. I had a blazeborn get me half a stack of blaze rods on the first day and and have a double chest of water breathing potions, a shulkerbox i carry on me, etc

I’ve been able to participate in fighting the enderdragon, visited the nether, and even endbusting (which was by far my most stressful Minecraft experience, when i was lagging and couldn’t drink potions so i had to keep relog glitching to survive until my friend placed a water bucket)

Everytime i’ve seen clips from OSMP with Niki she’s still waterbound and people are putting water streams in their builds?? which?? yeah, still good, but?? if its this far into the server and she hasn’t learnt this i will feel SO BAD.

also, Conduits work. Anywhere within range of the conduit will give waterbreathing- or, in Merlings cases, airbreathing, while you’re on land.
