How It Feels to have Hard Working Hands

How He Feels to Work with his Hands

Screwdrivers, hammers

nails and saws were his fingers

working days and nights

laboring

to build planes,

trains, bridges and autos.

Danger lurking through

knicks and crannies, paths and floors,

for a man who longed

for this work

every day

to give him pleasure.

How She Feels to Work with her Hands

Permanent colors,

on waves of long, short, curly

crops cut and tapered

by a hand

armed with comb,

scissors and hairspray.

Whining  about coifs

from friends seated in leather

lounges, yet she longed

for this work

every day

to give her pleasure.

Nikki Carr lives and writes in California but New York is where she studied and developed her style of writing. Nikki's work has appeared in ELJ Publications, Prolific Press, Aardvark Press and WordPress Publications. Her work has been recognized with a poetry award from the Lilian Osborn Memorial Foundation. Nikki's work shows a true passion for nature, mankind and everyday experiences.

A winner has been selected as the winner of Last Comic Standing season 8. Judges Keenan Ivory Wayans, Roseanne Bar, and Russell Peters narrowed it down to one tonight and there’s a winner. The 3 finalists, Rod Man, Nikki Carr, and Lachlan Patterson all competed for the top spot.

"Last Comic Standing" doesn't really make me laugh. But then again, nothing has since the Dresden Dolls split up.

TO EVERYONE WHO IS UPSET ABOUT JOE MACHI BEING KICKED OFF LCS

Remember how few winners of Last Comic Standing are actually remembered.

Past winners: Dat Phan, John Heffron, Alonzo Bodden, Josh Blue, Jon Reep, Iliza Shlesinger, and Felipe Esparza

Of those names, I have only seen comedy specials by Jon Reep and Iliza Shlesinger.

Only 2 out of 7 winners have remained at least fairly well-known, though I've not seen a special from one of the two for about 6 years.

Whereas several people who were eliminated in the competition have reached far greater heights.

So while Joe was definitely the one who deserved the title (him or Rod Man, but definitely not Lachlan. Maybe Nikki.) he's probably going to do better than whoever wins in the end.
