Funny seeing Edelstans really wanting to buy this game (and thus support cheap cash grabs) for their communist queen

It's still a game that stars their favourite character, so it was bound to happen.

Granted, the Zettai Ryouki makes me uncomfortable, Edel wears practical clothes (or what could be practical for a lead waifu) to go to war, but in the cheap spin-off she pulls the schoolgirl suit? She's not pegasi rider, but an armoured lord!

I mean, why not, but you can bet your horse I'd have rioted if Rhea changed her wardrobe for this, or if Dimitri started to wear shorts.

I have the feeling this game will disappoint everyone, no matter their stance on Edel or base!FE16.

Captainflash made Hilda way more racist than she is. Instead of being extremely ignorant regarding Almyra, she's furious at Claude for being half-Almyran after she finds out

Because no one can be ignorant, everyone who's ever said or done something bad must be 100% evil and/or malicious in intent (except You Know Boo of course, she's perfect and anything bad she's ever done is either justified, she didn't actually do it or she was forced to do it 🙄)

This man didn't play the same game as me, Hilda is ignorant regarding Almyrans but she's also the support Claude reveals the most about himself to and Claude's not stupid, he does this cause he knows Hilda won't actually judge him. Also to be fair since Cyril says Almyrans sort of attack the border where Hilda's Family lives on a regular bases just for funsies I'm not surprised she's not got the best view of Almyrans, in fact she's actually way more OK about it than most people irl would be about their country and home constantly being attacked. Like Hilda is overall pretty tolerant.

I guess that explains why he must "punish" her the way he does in the story 😒

During Annette's and Dedue's a-support Annettes states "He said if I wasn't perfect, as a knight's daughter, I'd be devaluing my Crest." I was wondering if this is the same in Japanese.

Well looking at it with full context, you have this:

And this is what it says in Japanese:

Annette: Well, you probably know this already, but my uncle is incredinly strict.

Annette: Be it cooking or studying, cleaning or washing, he always told me I had to do everything perfectly on my own.

Annette: ... If not, then as a daughter of a knight, I’d be devaluing the nobility that is marked by my crest. 

Annette: Any time I failed, he’d become angry and throw me this terrible glare... Or sigh tiredly in disappointment.

I am actually not sure on some of the phrasings for these lines, but the general gist of it was brought over to English correctly.

So weird that people are furious with Ingrid for being racist, while she even admits that she was wrong, but try everything they can to deny that Edelgard wants to finish a genocide.

Okay non-Edelgard related tangent.

I’m absolutely not excusing Ingrid’s prejudice at all, but the very very deeply empathetic part of me sees where she’s coming from. Her entire world was basically turned upside-down and shaken in a day. Suddenly she’s dealing with the loss of someone very close to her, one of her closest friends withdrawing from her completely, another one of her closest friends having a massive personality shift, dealing with tons of marriage proposals when she hasn’t even gotten over her last relationship because her family could quite literally die out if she doesn’t secure something viable, and not a whole lot of support because everyone she knows is dealing with the same loss as her or doesn’t know how to support her in the way she needs.

And yes, we know that Duscur were a convenient scapegoat for the true culprits, but Ingrid doesn’t. And she was what? Thirteen years old and stupidly impressionable when all of this happened? Of course she’s going to blame the people who she’s been repeatedly told are the ones who turned her entire life inside out.

I know a lot of people have beef with her supports with Dedue, and I’m not saying its invalid, but at least she tries to learn and grow and leave behind her prejudices. Which is a lot more than you can say for some characters.

At the end of the day though, I say the biggest issue with Ingrid is not the prejudice itself, it’s just how the entire Duscur subplot is never really commented or reflected upon after it’s resolved. Imagine if all of the Lions had gotten to be at Dimitri’s interrogation of Count Kleiman’s underling. Or, at least Felix, Ingrid, and Dedue. Imagine if they’d gotten to actually react to it—Felix angry that his brother was murdered for some petty political gain, Ingrid facing the fact that she’s been directing her anger at the wrong people all these years and directly apologizing to Dedue for the way she’s treated him, Dedue and Dimitri getting emotional because they’ve known it all this time, they’ve tried telling everyone, but no one would listen because they didn’t have direct proof... Think of how much better that would have been.

But Ingrid doesn’t get to be there and she never gets to react to it, because Ingrid could be dead.

Basically I’m saying they had the setup to some really punchy, emotional scenes and addressing this very important, serious issue and they just... dropped the ball so hard.

Dimitri does want war. Outside late AM, Dimitri does absolutely want war, because he wants Edelgard dead. Not because she’s invading, but to satisfy what he assumes to be the dead’s need for vengeance. Nobody’s hands are clean here, the difference is Edelgard’s fighting to improve the lives of Fodlan’s people. Dimitri’s fighting for base revenge.

As a funfact for this “male Byleth was intended, obviously!”, it was pointed out to me a while ago that Claude’s reunion scene was clearly done with female Byleth in mind. Don’t believe me?

Female Byleth is centered vertically in this shot. Meanwhile, the top of male Byleth’s head is being cut off by the ceiling of the frame.

With Female Byleth, Claude looks her in the eye. With Male Byleth, he’s examining the dude’s chin.

Nilsh jests here, but Rhea uses the goddess as a cudgel so often it’s kinda gross, and is somewhat reminiscent of Oro. Also, this post reminded me of this exchange in Ashe’s paralogue;
