hi Nanigma! i know this is a stretch since it doesn't look live you've been online in a while but i figured i'd ask anyway: so far as i've been able to see, Zero's supports in Warriors with Owain, Linde, and Caeda haven't been properly translated yet, i don't suppose you'd have the raws to translate those? or perhaps would even be willing to translate those yourself if it's not too much trouble and you have the time?

@professorsparklepants Oh my goodness! I checked the category, and it has 16 stories - 15 of which probably just assumed it was another spelling of 'english'. But one absolute MADMAN took it on and wrote possibly the only fanfic in Old English - because they could! And I for one, salute them <3

"AO3 has had an Old English language category for a minute, but none of the fic in it is in Old English, which I think is a crying shame. I'm not sure if anyone has posted fic in Old English before in, uh, all of human history, so I figured how better to inaugurate fic in the (arguable) origin of the English language than with the (arguable) origin of modern fanfiction?

This is the most unbelievably niche thing I have done in my entire life, and the category is competitive. Chapter 1 is the fic; Chapter 2 is a translation and translator's commentary, meant for an audience of non-Old English speakers. I love this language and its wildly homoerotic and emo poetry very deeply—if your primary reaction to a fanfiction in Old English is "why the sweet hell would you do this" a) you are right but b) I do want you to have a good time wondering with me how Captain Kirk would describe advanced computational technology in a language designed mainly for medieval men who are horse girls.

I'm hugely indebted to Bosworth-Toller's Anglo-Saxon Dictionary Online, and use their formatting for long vowels and palatalized C and G. The last time I was actively studying this language was 2017, and my grammar is certainly atrocious—corrections very welcome."

Hey have you been doing alright? You've been absent for quite a while and im worried something awful must have happened.

Hey, sorry for not responding in so long. Nothing bad happened, I just use tumblr less and am generally less active on social media. So no worries, it's just a big old case of me being a bit lazy and generally just consuming fanworks passively right now.

I have some other asks in my inbox, which I do plan to get to at some point. Right now I am simply working full time and have less energy to invest in other stuff.

But thank you for checking in nontheless. It's really sweet that people still remember this silly blog. :)

It’s a very special and pure interspecies bond. I have a concept of “love” that is metaphysical, conceptual; you have an instinctual bond to those that you “trust” to help you survive (and that you, in turn, help to survive). Claude. Why his accusation of the Church make no sense. 

Let’s look at his claims closely. These are almost directly word for word from his mouth:

They use social status to justify prejudice

They have no tolerance for those who come from anywhere else. Or who don’t believe in their teachings.

They steal your freedom and give you an endless list of duties and obligations because you have a Crest

They force people into unwanted marriages and positions of power

They forbid any official contact with outside regions.

These are his biggest claims against the Church of Seiros and Rhea. But even if we remove “player knowledge” from the equation and knowledge from other routes, and focus primarily on how his experiences in Foldan would shape these views, it doesn’t really add up.

Ok, here's the totally factual and rock-solid calc for why Elise and Sakura are 18+:

The second artbook states that Corrin's kidnapping took place 15 years prior to the start of the game; Sakura states in her A-support with Corrin that there were rumors that Nohr actually intended on kidnapping her but settled for Corrin when they failed, meaning she must have been alive when it happened or else the rumor would never have existed; Sakura and Elise are the same age because of symbolic parallels which, as everyone knows, automatically means that the characters being cotrasted are always as old as each other; Elise states that she remembers Garon being a kind person when he was younger which, given the fact that Garon already had the grey skin he got from being possessed by Anankos when he killed Sumeragi, that people irl don't start remembering things until they're roughly 3 years old, and that Elise would have had to spend a lot more time with him than that in order to have as strong of an emotional connection with him as she does by the start of the game, would mean she'd have had to have known him for at least 5 or 6 years prior to the kidnapping but after making it to 3 years of age, putting her (and consequently, Sakura) at 23 or 24.

(This is mostly a joke, but i do think it's a decent enough argument; the biggest flaws with it are that assuming Elise and Sakura are the same age is pretty baseless, along with the number at the end being arbitrary, but it still works pretty well as proof for Elise being 18+ at minimum due to her remembering what Garon was like prior to the kidnapping.)

Not quite.

Elise doesn’t ever mention remembering the old Garon, it’s Leo/Xander. In fact, it’s outright seen she doesn’t know him in her support with Leo (Which makes sense if she was younger).

Elise: What did Father used to be like?
Leo: Hm? What do you mean?
Elise: Xander once told me that Father used to be really different, but he didn't say more. So I was hoping you could tell me what kind of person Father was back then.
Leo: Hmm. Well, before Queen Arete passed away, I'd say he was a gentle father.
Elise: Gentle?! No way! I can't even imagine him like that.

There’s also the mention of new born princess after Azura got kidnapped. So Elise can’t be older than 15 years old. She was born at a time with no mistresses’ conflict.

As for Sakura, while she mentions she was little in her Corrin support, JP support specifically mentiones that she was newly born at the time, which barely makes her 15-16. The support doesn’t mention her remembering Corrin at all, just believing the rumor that she’s the one supposed to be kidnapped.

Sakura: W-well...I was really little when you were kidnapped and taken to Nohr... One day, I overheard some maids talking, and they said that Nohr wasn't after YOU. They had originally planned to kidnap me!

Not only Sakura that doesn’t remember Corrin, but Takumi was too young to remember as well.

That art book also confirms that Hinoka is around 21. Hinoka states in her Warriors supports with Camilla and Minerva she states that she was 7 years old when she started training to become a pegasus knight, which she only started after Corrin was kidnapped. That means she would have been around 6 when Corrin was kidnapped.

Even if Hinoka, Takumi, and Sakura were all born extremely close together (which they weren't, considering Sakura clearly doesn't remember Corrin at all while Hinoka does), the max Sakura could be is like 18.

Adding to the "Takumi doesn't remember Corrin" bit. The drama cd is very explicit about this (outside material, but otherwise congruent with the main plot) as it is the entire reason he is especially wary of them at first and pissed at people expecting him to be elated at the return of a stranger in his mind.

Interestingly, since Leon still remembers the old Garon, this is something of a clue that he could be a bit older than Takumi.
