Rinna has a lot of emotions about a lot of things that happened during her teen years, but she no longer considers those emotions to be regrets anymore.
Nin is the kind of gentle, extremely calm and collected person who will tell you with a smile that nothing they may have done ever broke any rule whatsoever. Which would technically be true because he finds loopholes in everything.
They both avoid having regrets (whether it has to do with rule-breaking or not), but you can't win all the time.
5. do they find any rules they/others follow absolutely ridiculous?
Being a Dalish diplomat working among a human organisation, there are a lot of things Nin finds ridiculous. Especially the unspoken set of rules one has to apparently follow to the letter when speaking to any Orlesian noble.
Rinna thinks any rule that puts someone above others is ridiculous.

2. can they tell if someone is lying?
They both are pretty good at reading people, so in general yes. Rinna is a little better at it than her brother because she tends to second guess people more than he does.
3. is it obvious when they’re lying?
When Rinna wants to hide something, she'll make sure people won't find it. Nin, on the contrary, can't lie to save his life.
🍊 What is your OC’s favourite meal? Snack? Dessert? Drink? Any reasons behind this besides liking how it tastes?
Nin’s favourite meal consists of small buns filled with ground meat and herbs, with a side of very hot chicken broth full of vegetables. This is what his mother used to cook for him when he was sick as a child.
His sweet tooth is legendary, so his favourite snacks and desserts are very sweet things, usually with lots of honey, lemon or cinnamon.
For the drink, lemony things (again) like either a very hot tea with two spoonfuls of (you guessed it) honey or a very cold lemonade with a dash of mint.
🍐 What is your OC’s mentality? Are they overall positive? Negative? A bit of both? Describe their thought patterns and reasoning behind their choice making!
Nin’s overall a pretty positive person. He tries to see the best in everyone, and make the most of any situation.
He tends to not see the bigger picture when making decisions, and not think about the long-term impact of said decisions. He’s determined to work on this issue, since he has only people’s best interests in mind.
💧 What is the earliest memory your OC can recall? Do they know what their first words were or remember where they took their first steps? Do they have any mementos of their childhood they’ve kept such as a stuffed toy or tiny baby clothes?
He remembers trying to eat a living slug, his father freaking out and his mother laughing in the background. He was four.
His first word was ‘honeybee’.
He doesn’t remember where he took his first steps, but his mother told him it was during a small trek through the forest while she was watching over the harts and the hallas of the clan.
The only thing he kept from his childhood is a blanket his mother crocheted. Its very bright and represents a fire turning into a beautiful sunset.
🛍️ Function or Aesthetic? Skirts or Pants? Heels or Flats?
He likes aesthetic things, but unless it’s both aesthetically pleasing and functional he won’t pick it.
Pants, but Nin mostly wears loose clothing because he doesn’t like tight clothing all that much, so he actually does like skirts. He doesn’t wear them often though.

You want someone who will see your favorite flower and will give it to you, without even thinking about it. You want someone who will remember all the little details about you, the things so seemingly unimportant but that matter more than you thought they did. You want someone who will still be there, thirty years down the line, holding your hand while the two of you do two separate things. You want the intimacy of being known by someone who makes you feel safe. You don't want expensive dinners or grand proposals. You want someone who will love you consistently.

🍒 What kind of things do they expect from their relationships? Does this differ between platonic relationships and romantic ones? Is your OC “demanding” or a door mat? What kinds of things do people expect from them in a relationship?
Mutual respect and trust, understanding, teamwork. It doesn’t differ much between platonic and romantic ones, the base is the same.
I only have a vague idea of what being a door mat in a relationship implies, but Nin would be the one who puts the other party’s needs before his own. If he wasn’t already in a relationship, people who would like to be with him could expect him to be their absolute ray of sunshine who never stops shining for them, which is impossible.
🍋 Does your OC act petty and jealous easily? What sort of things make them feel like this and do they experience guilt for getting so worked up? How do they deal with these emotions when they get them? If your OC doesn’t feel like this often, why not?
He doesn’t have to, he has complete trust in his husband. For other things, he might get envious if you’re eating a cake slice that is bigger than his.

No particular trigger, no.

He’d tell you is favourite place is wherever his family is, which is true, but he also has a very soft spot for the Emerald graves. Sitting under the trees, the sun filtering through their leaves, a small breeze gently blowing through his hair. Surrounded by his people’s memories and history, he could almost hear the songs of old when he closes his eyes.
As for the places he hates to go... well. Most of these places are big Orlesian cities full of nobles haha.
📙 What kind of subjects (of conversation, of discussion, in school or whatever) does your OC find interesting or engaging or that they can talk for hours about? What kind of stuff do they just find fun?
What things bore your OC to tears and they couldn’t care less about? Why?
Elvhen history, hands down! Get him started and you’ll never hear the end of it! He especially loves finding letters, journals and such and try to piece them together to retrace someone’s life, but that applies whether the person was elvhen or not.
He is... really not thrilled by fishing. He likes fish, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with fishing but he doesn’t get why some people call it an art.
😊 What can make your OC smile even when they’re feeling down? What cheers them up and makes everything feel better for them? Is your OC generally a happy person and do they enjoy making others smile? What about your OC makes others happy?
Being with his loved ones always make things easier. Hugs, kisses, a little song, something warm and sweet. It doesn’t cure everything, but it soothes.
Nin is a generally happy person, or at least tries to be. He’s cheerful, compassionate and understanding. He loves making others smile, whether by helping them or telling absolutely ridiculous jokes. He likes being helpful, listening to people, giving them reassurance or a shoulder to cry on.
💛 In general, how in control of their emotions is your OC? Do they have a good hold on them or do their emotions control them, not the other way around? What do you think is the reason behind this and is your OC ever concerned about their lack of or good control?
Nin tends to let his emotions control him. As said in a previous ask, he’s working on trying to see the bigger picture and keeping his emotions in check can help him see clearer and take a step back to better analyse the situation. It’s not easy, but Josephine and Leliana are good teachers, and he managed to guard himself well enough at the Winter Palace thanks to both of them.
He doesn’t like his emotions clouding his judgement, but he doesn’t like thinking that keeping them in check means that he doesn’t care. He cares a lot, and he has to accept that sometimes caring means controlling his emotions so he doesn’t act rashly and make things worse in the long run, and that controlling his emotions doesn’t mean suppressing them.
🌹 How easy is it for them to connect with others and make friends? On the flip side how easy is it for them to make an enemy of someone? Are they the kind of person who hangs around the food table at a party and never talks to anyone or are they the type who can talk to anyone?
Very easy. People usually are quick to warm up to his gentle and caring nature. He tries his best to accommodate people and make them safe. He doesn’t have many enemies that he knows personally, the ones who consider him an enemy are those who would go against his work as an Elvhen ambassador.
Nin can talk to anyone, even when he doesn’t initiate the conversation. Not only will he only very rarely refuse to talk, he will listen intently and with genuine interest.
But as social as he is, he would definitely be one to hang around the food table.
🎀 Do they wear a specific accessory with a special meaning behind it? What is their usual fashion sense like? What do they wear when they want to be comfortable and what do they wear when they’re going to a fancy party? Or do they just not care?
He keeps a small cat-shaped pendant made of ironbark in his pocket, which was made by his sister when they were young.
Nin loves warm colours and will prefer wearing oranges and yellows, which match his eyes. Fabric-wise, he prefers his pants and shirts light (linen, mostly) and his jackets a bit heavier. He either wears sleeveless or full-sleeve shirts, he doesn’t like short or elbow-length sleeves, and rarely wears tight clothing.
Fancy parties aren’t really his thing, so he wouldn’t drastically change styles. He’d just wear his idea of fancier clothes: same style, but cleaner edges, better fabrics, a little more detailing (like... embroidery and stuff), and maybe a little bit of perfume on top of it.
💙 What did your OC want to be when they grew up and why? Did they have any lifelong dreams or ambitions they never got to work on or are they currently working to achieve this dream? Has their life taken a very unexpected turn and put all these plans on hold for a while or have they given up on any dreams?
Ever since he heard stories about the Dales, the only thing on his mind was to have them back, or do whatever was in his power to have a place any elf could call home if they so chose, which I headcanon happening in 9:66.
He honestly never thought it would happen the way it did, with him becoming an Elvhen ambassador for an Andrastian Inquisition and keeping up the diplomatic work after it was disbanded. But he’s happy that at least some positive things came out of this whole mess.
