Women Empowerment Entertainment Lawyer Nina Shaw
Nina Shaw, she is one of a kind, very passionate, fierce and well known for her prestigious work. Reading some of the interviews she encountered and through her accomplishments, she inspired me. Shaw favored transactional law to litigation and always held an interest in entertainment, so after she graduated in 1979, she chose a career in talent law . Nina Shaw earned her law degree from Columbia Law School in 1979, and joined law firm O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles after. There she worked for clients such as Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin’s Tandem/T.A.T. Productions.
Shaw started her own firm with Ernest Del — Del, Shaw, Moonves, Tanaka & Finkelstein in 1989. According to Ryzik, Ms. Shaw also has a reputation as a tough negotiator, skilled in getting equitable deals for her female and minority clients, pressing the other side to explain why her clients won’t get fair pay (2016). In 2016 she was named entertainment lawyer of the year by the Beverly Hills bar association and 2016 a deal maker impact honoree. Shaw is an advocate for the education of girls and women and services as the Vice President of the board of directors of the independent school alliance.
If I were to be able to get a chance to personally interview Shaw, I have a few things I would want to ask her. I would first ask, what the most challenging situation that she ever encountered. Also, what helped her keep her drive and was there a point she felt she couldn’t make it. Lastly, what kind of advice would she give to someone who wants to start a business.
I chose this person because she has passion, drive, dedication and was persistent to get where she is today. Shaw is well respected for her work and I too want to be respected like that when the time comes.
