Alpha Kappa Psi visits Bloomberg HQ
In November, the members of Alpha Kappa Psi got to delve into the world of big business by visiting Bloomberg Media headquarters in New York City.
While there, they were able to tour the facility and meet Bloomberg staff, along with former Highlanders who paved the way for future business-savvy minds at NJIT.
Below is a write-up by Mansha Kohli ‘20, the president of Alpha Kappa Psi:
Alpha Kappa Psi, NJIT's co-ed professional business fraternity, embarked on a corporate tour at Bloomberg L.P. headquarters in Manhattan on Monday, November 13. Fraternity members met several senior executives and alumni employees while learning about Bloomberg's history and culture.
During the tour, the group met Tom Keene and John Tucker, anchors on Bloomberg Radio's weekday morning program, "Bloomberg Surveillance." The program covers the latest news in finance, economics, and investment and invites influential individuals to speak on the world markets.
Next, the students received an in-depth tour of media facilities, including the broadcast studio, hosted by Roman Mackiewicz, CIO of Bloomberg Media Group. Roman is a graduate of NJIT, receiving both his undergraduate and masters degrees in Computer Science from the university.
After the tour concluded, fraternity members had the chance to unwind during lunch at Patsy's Pizzeria, courtesy of the chapter's co-advisor, Michael Smullen, Director of Alumni Relations. There, the students met and ate with NJIT alumnus Anthony Scotellaro '07, Desktop Engineer at Bloomberg.
NJIT's sponsorship of the “Bloomberg NJIT STEM Report” on Bloomberg Radio is now in its fifth year, and the partnership has recently been renewed. The Brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi are very excited to see what the future holds, and would like to thank Donna Russo, Michael Smullen, and the Martin Tuchman School of Management for making this event possible!
