Why doesn't Ruben have an audition tape

Long story short: He didn’t audition - we asked him to be involved. He seemed like he would be a good fit with the cast we had compiled and when we asked him he said yes. He talks about it in his Q&A, I believe, so more info then! haha

Do Caleb, Reuben, and Bonnie have audition videos too?

Bonnie and Caleb do. Reuben does not. 

If the opportunity arises we may release them, but that time is not now haha

ahh! how did you manage to cast all these talented teens, most of whom are not professional? they're incredible!

Because they auditioned for us! (plus we knew some of them from school and through various acting things…) And they are, aren’t they? We’re extremely grateful. :)

Hi, first off, wanted to say I am loving NMTD and it is so cool to see a New Zealand webseries (as someone who lives in NZ)! I was just wondering how you cast the show, did you hold auditions or just ask people you knew if they'd be interested? P.S. sorry if this question has been asked before :)

Thank-you! We really appreciate your message. Yay! New Zealand is grand, isn’t it? We’re happy that we’re making something which we would want to watch as well.

We cast NMTD in early November last year (2013). We had an open casting call and let the public know any way we could, given that we had no money for the project. We posted to Facebook pages aimed at young actors, let our friends know and any previous drama groups we’d been involved in, we put up a few audition fliers, told our (old) school, and used the power of word of mouth! One exciting thing about having a following now (yay! you guys are great!) is that we will be able to reach more people for future projects!

The auditions were held over two days (in Sally and Elsie’s house), and we had about sixty people audition, which blew us away. We also gave them the option to send us audition videos if they couldn’t make it to either day (which is actually how our Benedick auditioned!). The people who auditioned were super professional and enthusiastic. It was great; we were excited by the project but it was the first sense we got of other people being excited too, which made the whole thing possible. The final cast was a mix of people we knew and people we didn’t.

It was a really special moment when we held call-backs for our potential cast; everyone got on really well and we ended up being able to cast every person there. :)
