FULL NAME: Tapeesa ‘Timber’ Wilde
APPEARANCE: 6’2, and by virtue of her height is the second tallest Xiaolin Dragon (second only to Clay, and even then it’s pretty close).
Floofy blonde hair. It is usually worn long but it is currently cut short with parts of it dyed forget-me-not blue. Tan skin. Brown almond-shaped eyes. Often wears a black toque/beanie, and has a taste for punk, grungy, and “woodsy” type fashions like leather jackets, plaid, distressed denim, etc.
Current outfit is as follows: Long sleeve black shirt with Canadian maple leaf design. Plaid overshirt. Ripped jeans, black socks and black boots. Fingerless black gloves. Single piercing on her nose, multiple piercings in her ears, and a forest green jacket with brown fur lining on the hood. Jacket is designed to make the wearer look like a wolf. This is Timber’s trademark jacket and her most recognizable article of clothing.
GENDER/SEXUALITY: Female. Pansexual. Polyamorous and proud.
PRONOUNS: She/Her/Hers
ETHNICITY: Mixed race - her mother is an Inuk woman from Labrador, and her father was an Irish-Canadian man from Newfoundland.
BIRTHPLACE/BIRTHDATE: Born and raised in the province of Newfoundland, Canada on November 2nd, 2003. Scorpio. 16 going on 17.
GUILTY PLEASURES: Cigarettes. Food. Weed. Food. Sneaking into places she shouldn’t. Food. Saucy reading materials. Food. Pretty girls. Food. Feisty boys. Food. Abusing her powers to be lazy, get what she wants and take shortcuts. Food. Loud music. Food. Singing. Food. Sneaking out at night. Food. Petty vandalism. Food. Street hockey. Food. Regular hockey. Food. Skateboarding. Food. Tagging property with her own unique brand of art. Food. Cute dogs. Food. Taking lots and lots of selfies and candid photos, as photography is her biggest passion and addiction ALSO FOOD DID I MENTION FOOD YET BECAUSE THAT’S A BIG ONE SHE IS ALWAYS HUNGRY
QUIRKS: Constantly takes photos. Constantly gets distracted. Constantly wanders off. Bites her lip when she is anxious or about to lie. Takes great pride in her hair and prior to her forced haircut took good care of it and grew it out long, thick and messy. Her wild hair is a trademark of hers and she doesn’t like people touching it or doing anything to it.
Is well known for having a nervous tic in the form of shaking hands. She claims it’s due to bad medication - and may even in fact believe her own lie - but in reality, it’s completely psychological in nature, due to her undiagnosed PTSD and trauma from a formative life event when she was 8 years old. It is always present, worsens under stress, and at times affects her motor skills so intensely that she cannot tie her shoes or pick up a spoon. It is a great insecurity of hers and she does her best to hide it.
TRIGGERS: Mentions of her family, being called “crazy” and being near the ocean or on water.
FUN FACTS:
When visiting a new place, Timber will build or draw an inukshuk and take a photo of it to commemorate the occasion. She has been doing this since she was small, and she continues this ritual in honor of the loved one who taught her how to do this.
Her real name Tapeesa means “arctic flower” in the Inuktituk language, but most people know her as Timber. Earned the nickname ‘Timber’ from her father when she made a tree fall as a young girl due to her Wood elemental powers revealing themselves. Answers only to the name ‘Timber’ in his memory.
Really loves blueberries. She likes all food and eats like a starving animal but she gravitates to blueberries and blueberry flavored things. Her trademark favorite food though is blueberry pancakes with blueberry jam, as per her father’s recipe.
COLORS: Blue and Green
ANIMAL SYMBOLISM: Moths 🦋
PHOBIAS: Several, actually.
Going home.
Losing the one “friend” she has.
Being alone for the rest of her life.
Being an outcast for the rest of her life.
Not being able to fulfill her deal to Sun and complete the one mission that has kept her going for YEARS.
Being open and honest and vulnerable with other people.
Trusting other people.
Other people.
But the one thing she fears more than anything else is the ocean. Deep water in general makes her very uncomfortable and she slowly loses it when in close proximity to beaches, docks, and boats. She. HATES. Being on water.
And she has every reason to hate it.
WHAT SHE WOULD BE FAMOUS FOR: Timber Wilde is the first Dragon of Wood in centuries, a “Wilde” card that even Wuya herself was not aware of before she made herself known. And due to the complicated history of the Xiaolin Dragons and the Dragons of Wood, that alone is more than enough to have everyone from the Xiaolin to the Heylin hunting her down. Inexperienced in actual combat, but with enough raw power and natural talent that exceeds even Raimundo and Omi’s Shoku-level abilities, Timber Wilde is cunning, powerful, creative, and above all, unpredictable.
Timber Wilde is also currently the owner of the Crown of the Monkey King, the most dangerous Shen Gong Wu in existence. What’s more, she is also the faithful and long-suffering servant, student and sometimes host of the evil that resides in it.
Along with her traveling companions, Jack Spicer, the reluctant Dragon of Metal, and Jermaine Thompson, the kung-fu prodigy that was trained by Chase Young himself, Timber Wilde currently travels the world in an ongoing journey, keeping her secrets close, her “enemies” closer, and searching for a way to free her master in exchange for her one and only chance to rectify the greatest failure of her life.
She will do whatever it takes to reach this goal. Even if she has to burn down the whole world to do it. After all...a deal’s a deal, right?
WHAT THEY WOULD GET ARRESTED FOR:
Theft. Arson. Disturbing the peace. Possession and underage usage of tobacco products and marijuana. General teenage mayhem. Destruction of property. Aggravated assault. Vandalism and trespassing.
...Treason.
WHO DO YOU SHIP THEM WITH: Timber is polyamorous and has a lot of romantic potential with a few different characters. I feel like she’d be happiest in a polyamorous triad with Jack Spicer as one of her lifelong partners due to how well they connect and compliment each other, but jury’s still out on who would best complete their OT3.
She’s 100 percent into nerds tho. Nerds and angry types and red hair and blue eyes. All she wants is to be topped by someone smarter than her. She just needs a feisty bookworm who can put her in her place and teach her things.
CHARACTER MOST LIKELY TO KILL THEM: Everyone is out to get Timber but sadly her worst enemy is in her own head. Literally. He’s in her HEAD.
FAVORITE BOOK/MOVIE GENRE: Historical/documtary type stuff because she’s hungry for knowledge of the world outside her small seaside town, but she also has a secret soft spot for shojo mangas and saucy romance books.
LEAST FAVORITE MOVIE/BOOK CLICHE: Sad endings, or stories where the dog dies.
TALENTS/POWERS: As the Dragon Of Wood, Timber Wilde has power over every form of plant life, and once again she’s nearly above Shoku level with her abilities. In addition to manipulating and accelerating plant growth, she can also....
Gift plants with sentience and speech,
Use pollen and scents to confuse, manipulate, charm or take out foes,
Create bioluminescent plants and fungi
Create armor for herself from plants
Use plants for camouflage, disguise, defense or offense
Create her own food source
And much more.
But the most important skill as Dragon of Wood she has is, above all, her healing abilities.
With the power to use the medicinal properties in her plants to heal almost any wound or illness, Timber Wilde’s healing powers make her invaluable in battle.
She also has learned one more technique from Sun, one that allows her to “borrow” another person’s power for her own.
But we can discuss that later.
WHY SOMEONE MIGHT LOVE THEM: Despite her many flaws, Timber Wilde isn’t that bad of a person. Deep down underneath her tough, nihilistic, cold exterior, she’s just a sweet, silly, mischief making teenager who just needs and wants a friend. She is a dreamer. She is an artist. Though she has long since lost faith in people she still has an eye for beauty and finds it everywhere in the world around her. She thirsts for adventure and wants to live life to the fullest and experience everything the unknown has to offer.
At her best, Timber Wilde is a lively, incredible, inspiring soul who is passionately devoted to everything and everyone she loves. She will go to the ends of the earth for anything and anyone she cares about, even if it costs her her own life.
WHY SOMEONE MIGHT HATE THEM: Timber Wilde is a deeply complicated person who has a lot of inner pain and fears. And like a certain other redhead, these feelings cause her to lash out at the world around her in less than ideal ways.
Timber lies. Timber keeps secrets. Timber can get very defensive when you poke past the casual front she tries to keep up and start asking her real questions. She has a loose sense of morals, and a survivalist mindset. She doesn’t reach out to other people. She doesn’t trust other people. In fact, the only person she puts her faith in is an evil entity trapped within the Shen Gong Wu she wears on her head. And because of his influence, her view of reality is severely warped.
She genuinely believes she has no real place in this world amongst other people. She genuinely believes everyone is out to get her and that everyone disappoints each other eventually and to make yourself vulnerable or to have faith in others is to invite hurt and heartbreak. And despite the fact that she holds her own needs and desires above everyone else’s, she thinks very, very lowly of herself.
She cannot forgive herself for past mistakes. She cannot let go of what’s already gone. She blames herself for the fate of her family and the untimely demise of the most important person in her life and this has taken a severe emotional and mental toll on her. And due to this loss, she has ONE goal in life that she chases after with all her heart and soul, and the way she tunnel visions in on her mission often means she leaves others to the wayside, though not always without guilt or regret.
Timber is....complicated. Like a wildfire, she burns and burns and burns, and each and every day she burns a little more out of control than before.
But fires don’t burn because they want to hurt people. Fires burn because they don’t know how else to keep from going out.
Timber Wilde knows her actions have consequences. But seeing no better options, she forces herself not to care. She lies to everyone, including herself.
HOW THEY CHANGE: Spoilers.
But I think a certain someone, or two certain someones, can help her change.
Power of friendship, baby.
Why You Love Them: Because she fulfills several of my wishes for what I wanted to see in Xiaolin Showdown.
A) She’s a female character
B) She’s a female XIAOLIN character
C) She is or will be a true blue ally and supportive friend to Jack Spicer, a boy who desperately needs friends
D) She’s a Dragon Of Wood and
E) She is a girl with grit who gets swept up into a magical life changing adventure
I really like your tag for Andrew/Akko. It's really cute and suits them well. Also, I enjoyed your meta too! :D
Thanks! :) I chose it because, while perhaps not word-for-word, it’s about what he says to her at the end of the first episode they have together, when he agrees not to tell anyone about the misadventure they had throughout the entire thing (because Akko is worried it could get her expelled). He agrees to keep the secret for her, and moreover, agrees to keep it something between them; I think whatever intrigue he had for her at the start of the episode was definitely cemented then, which is a big part of why he agreed to keep the secret. It just seemed fitting, since it was the start of things, so I chose it. I’m glad you like it, and thanks for the compliment on my meta as well!
Ashlie! It's me, gokusdonut! Thanks for following my side blog! :D It’s like every time Yamamori pulls an HnR stunt, it revives the fandom from the trenches. ;_; Shishio is happy now with a woman who brings out the best in him, and he's taking chances and being honest, because he knows a good thing when he sees one. And like, they're the freaking cutest adults ever. That KISS GOT ME!
I saw the neefa talks tag and I went SHE HAS ANOTHER BLOG?! and instantly followed lmao. I’m so bad about keeping up with tumblr lately (pure laziness, some depression, and also being all too involved with my sims blog lately) lmao but it’s like something inside me ALWAYS KNOWS when something HnR is happening and I show up and LO AND BEHOLD THERE IT IS! lmao *____________* AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH this is wonderful!!!!!! I’m really happy for him ;A; (and also because it’s such a good writing move for her part; I’ve heard a lot of bad things about her new manga so I’m happy to see lmao she still is capable of doing something well ;A;) LIKE!!!!! ;A; IDK SHISHIO REALLY NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO FINALLY MOVE ON AND WITH SOMEONE HE’S SO COMPATIBLE WITH CRIES IT’S SO WONDERFUL. LOOK HOW MUCH HE’S GROWN UP! LOOK HOW MUCH HE’S LEARNED FROM HIS PREVIOUS MISTAKES! ;A; Finally going AFTER the person he likes and BEING OPEN AND HONEST rather than just letting things be or expecting her to understand akfjakfjakjf THEIR MUTUAL LOVE FOR SHOUJO LMAO IS SO PRECIOUS ;A; UGH UGH UGH. I’m honestly so delighted!!!!!
(Also I just love love LOVE any time she does something with HnR like… I just want to keep getting cute little side stories, maybe a cute Shishio/Samejima josei forever. Like updates about the friends how are they doing? lmao I guess truly the one thing I can never let go of is HnR :333 (and all the wonderful friends and community I gained through it :333)
UGH I’M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are your headcanons for Omi, Clay, and Raimundo in reference to MW? If you don't get the chance to fit everything into your story, would you consider writing one-shots to go along with it? What was your inspiration for writing MW, aside from wanting a Jack Spicer redemption? What's your writing process? How long have you been writing? Are there other fandoms you're into besides XS?
This is going to get LONG and I don’t want to split it up because internet is bad here so apologies In advance but here we go:
What are your headcanons for Omi, Clay, and Raimundo in reference to MW?
I’ll start writing them and posting them as soon as I finish answering this one. It might take a bit, but you’ll see them up in a few hours or so.
Believe it or not those headcanons help me a lot when it comes to figuring out characters. So thanks for asking! I appreciate it.
If you don't get the chance to fit everything into your story, would you consider writing one-shots to go along with it?
Hell. Yes.
There is SO much I want to do. I want to write about how each Dragon found their element. I want to write ALL OF THE SHIP FUEL for Jack x Jermaine x Timber. I want to write about them having little mini episodic breather adventures in lots of different countries and cities, I’m talking Mumbai, St Petersburg, Venice, Paris, Capetown, Aguascalientes, Melbourne, everywhere! And maybe run ins with villains, for no reason. I want to write about them teaching each other about their strengths, like Jack explaining science to Jermaine and Timber or Timber teaching them two city boys how to fish and forage for food.
Also more moments of Jermaine reigning these two natural disasters in and teaching them how to be actual people. Because that’s always fun.
I want to write little moments between characters in Team Xiaolin during their quest to track down Team Spicer and I want to write moments between Seon Yeong, Rai and Kim as a trio. I want to write post-MW! Fics between characters and how they learn and grow after the events of the story - especially Kimiko and Timber as total opposites and the only two girls on the team. And I really want to write a ‘beach episode’ where Jack, Jermaine and Timber just end up warping to a tropical area and just have fun for once.
I want to write solo fics about Jack and Jermaine and their personal struggles as they grow up with their own troubles prior to MW!
And a part of me really, really wants to start posting a mini fic about Timber’s life in Silent Harbor, to show her slow, sad descent into the troubled teen she has now become and as a build up to the events of Chapter 6 of MW! where she runs into Jack for the first time. It would be SO spoiler-y though.
There’s a lot that might not fit in MW! And I would definitely write a bunch of mini stories. I don’t know who would be interested in reading all of that, but I might do it just to brainstorm ideas and explore character interactions.
What was your inspiration for writing MW, aside from wanting a Jack Spicer redemption?
I’ve been wanting to tell a XS story since I was a kid! This show was my everything! The characters were my everything. And even now it holds a special place in my heart. So the drive to write something for this fandom has always been there.
As for MW! itself....I’ve always had a fondness for Jack Spicer. I’ve always wanted him to find some semblance of happiness and have someone there so he’s not alone. And a long time ago, that someone became Timber.
But Timber wasn’t who she is today. She was Latina, and Californian, and a bubbly pink ray of sunshine and positivity. And Jack had a crush on her and she was his bestie and she was essentially an overly competent sidekick for him and then Clay had a crush on her and she was the Dragon Of Wood and Jack was the Dragon Of Metal and he was going to sell his soul to the Heylin side to finally earn Chase’s approval and she was gonna save him from himself...well, you get the picture. And I liked her a lot, and I still miss that version of her sometimes, but...she wasn’t interesting enough. And there wasn’t really a story there. At least not much of one. What was there could have been interesting on its own, but it was pretty self indulgent and I don’t think anyone besides me would have enjoyed reading it. And that’s no fun.
Then I had the idea to somehow bind Timber, an innocent civilian girl, to Jack through magic by having her make the idiotic mistake of betting herself in a Showdown with him over a Wu that was hers and then lose, and then essentially being dragged along on all of his adventures and slowly becoming friends with him while hilarity ensues. Then I had the idea to make a game breaking Wu that just...caused trouble. And the story then became about Jack accidentally dragging a civilian girl along on a warpy portally adventure with that Wu and run into all these villains as they become friends.
But when I did this, it didn’t feel balanced. I had someone on the Heylin side and I had someone who was Neutral. So then I needed someone as a buffer between Jack and Timber so they didn’t kill each other and to represent the side of Good aka someone who was Xiaolin.
And then Jermaine came along!
And as I developed the story more, I realized I wanted to tell something serious, and have all the characters grow and play off of each other and talk about the XS universe and answer questions and give everyone this big, long journey and great trial and give Jack actual character development and actual friends/love interests and have someone from Chinese Mythology be the Xiaolin’s ultimate adversary and Jack’s final test of character. And along the way, MW! was born.
And I’m really grateful for that.
What's your writing process?
Usually first I write up a few ideas of what I want to happen, like the general flow of the chapter. Then I make a chronological skeleton of dialogue, and I tweak it until I’m satisfied. Then I write the rest of the stuff like actions and descriptions.
One of my flaws is being redundant. Another is being overly wordy. So after I write it all out, I try to trim it down and tweak it as best as I can until these flaws are no more (I sometimes skip stuff) and then I just play around with the chapter until it feels right. It has to strike an emotional chord with me and get me excited to write it before I publish it. If I don’t feel that spark, it doesn’t go up.
I had a few people in the fandom volunteer to be beta readers, but my chapters are so long...so right now it’s just a couple of my closest friends who are looking at it, the main one being my friend CVD, who also wants to be a writer. She’s got a good eye for what does and doesn’t belong and I’m forever thankful. My other two, Trinket and Papillion, look over it and help let me know how they feel about things so they’re also a big help. So shoutout to you guys!
And then after all that noise, my stuff goes up.
However, my older chapters could use one final spellcheck and revision so I’ll eventually go back and polish those up a bit. Typos man. Typos....
A lot of times I’ll also take breaks to do some research and find inspiration music. Honestly there are days where I can’t figure a character or a scene out until I find JUST the right song for inspiration. And since a lot of characters in my fic are from a different country and cultural background than mine, I’ll do plenty of research to try to stay true to who they are. I’m doing a lot of research on the Bedouin tribe and its history and looking for a lot of pretty Middle Eastern music right now, for example. YouTube is a great resource for these things! Bless the internet!
How long have you been writing?
Since forever! I’ve always been making up stories in my head! And they’d get elaborate too! I’ve built so many worlds and characters just by playing around as a little kid, I can’t even begin where to start talking about them all. As I grew, I started to write them down and now I want to get serious about it! Besides Monkey Wrench!, I want to write a fanfic for the Ducktales 2017 fandom and the Black Butler fandom, and I have two original novel ideas I want to write out and get published. It’s my dream to make stories that other people love and that inspire others to learn, write, make stuff and have adventures and stuff. Literally my dream is to make stories that get a buttload Of fanart and cosplays and fanfic and just...move the world for the better somehow. That is my highest goal rn. Being a published and famous author.
Are there other fandoms you're into besides XS?
Hell yeah! Although I do tend to have periods where I hyper fixate on one at a time. Besides Xiaolin Showdown, I also like Gravity Falls, Storm Hawks, Steven Universe, Star vs The Forces Of Evil, and Ducktales 2017. There were a lot more in the past, such as Teen Titans, King Falls AM, The Boondocks, and Samurai Champloo, but I haven’t been very active in those fandoms as of late.
I really need to get into Tangled: The Series, OK KO, Victor and Valentino, and Craig Of the Creek. They all look phenomenal, I just don’t have time to get into them all yet.
Twenty ONE Facts About Rai (From Monkey Wrench!)
This is a long time coming, but here we go!
Twenty One Facts About Rai
1.) Rai is one of the youngest of the Pedrosa Kids. He has a few siblings that are younger than him, but he’s still younger than most and is thusly considered one of the “babies” of the family. It’s a BIG family, and don’t get him started on his other relatives!
2.) Rai has a great relationship with each of his siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and other family members, but he is still closest to Henrique. He calls him all the time, sends him snapshots of the locations he visits, usually passes messages to the rest of the family through Henrique, and is even the godparent to Henrique’s infant son. Whenever Rai manages to perfect a new technique with his wind powers, chances are it’s Henrique who he’ll run to first so he can show him.
3.) Rai was raised by his grandparents and his older siblings. His parents passed when he was younger and are deeply loved and sorely missed by their surviving children and family. Rai remembers them and thinks of them often. Rai has his dad’s penchant for jokes and his mom’s inherent kindness.
4.) Rai’s grandfather taught him all about chess. They used to play all the time back when Rai was growing up in Brazil and always had a blast going up against one another. To this day, Raimundo still hasn’t managed to beat his grandfather, but both he and his grandfather look forward to the day when he can break the old man’s winning streak.
5.) When it comes to who has the most kitchen skills in the Dragons, Rai Is number one. It comes from years of helping his grandmothers and sisters make food at home. He actually enjoys it too as it helps him blow off steam and come back to center after bad days. I Headcanon that he likes baking a touch more than cooking, that he has a cookbook somewhere in his room with all of his grandmother’s secret recipes, and that he’s always collecting recipes here and there when he’s Wu Hunting and the Dragons stop to eat. He’s a little shy about it.
6.) Rai’s love for surfing runs in the family. His grandfather was there for the rise of surfing in Brazil during the 70s, and he fell in love it with. He was then followed by all his sons, including Rai’s dad, then Rai’s older brothers and then Rai himself. Rai loves the way it feels and he loves the feeling of connection to his family he gets from it. It’s one of his greatest passions. He always hoped he’d become famous for his skills someday.
7.) Rai used to feel really out of place at the Xiaolin Temple. Back in the day, he just couldn’t see how he was supposed to get along with a high maintenance socialite, a quiet ranch hand, and an overconfident little kid with martial arts skills. But now, his world doesn’t make sense without the other Dragons in it. Rai sees Clay as the ‘soulmate’ he’s always been missing in his life and Omi as his little brother.
And then there’s Kimiko.
8.) Rai keeps a diary. No one knows about it except for Clay, because he caught him writing in it one day and Rai swore him to secrecy. And Clay being Clay neither judges him nor tells anyone about it.
Rai lies to himself and says that keeping the diary isn’t all that important to him, but he hasn’t skipped a day of writing in years and does a pretty good job of documenting current events. If you’d read all his diaries, you’d know everything that went down in his life since age 6 and all that happened at the temple since age 11-12.
9.) Rai loves futbol and adores surfing but also? He likes poetry. Like, really likes poetry. He reads it, listens to it, and even writes a lot of his own. He’s super insecure about it and refuses to talk about or show anyone his poetry. He Especially would never tell a certain someone, since a decent chunk of his poems are actually about them.
10.) Rai likes a lot of contemporary Brazilian music and pop/party music in general, but he also has a weak spot for instrumental music in the vein of Lindsey Stirling, and also musicals. Hamilton is is current favorite right now.
11.) Rai’s grandmother taught him how to dance. She used to be well known for it when she was younger. Some of his older sisters also introduced him to more contemporary dance moves. Rai sometimes uses both in his fighting. Actually, He and one other Dragon use/will use dance choreography in their attacks.
12.) Yes - Rai is in love with Kimiko. And yes, he has admitted it to himself and has long since come to terms with it. He likes her smarts, her sass, her confidence, her drive, pretty much everything about her.
But he still hasn’t confessed to Kimiko. He’s not sure how she feels about him and he deeply fears the fallout that will ensue if he tells her how he feels, and she rejects him. He truly values her and treasures the relationship they currently have. Rai cannot picture life without her in it.
13.) Raimundo actually did have a job (if you can call it that?) at a circus, but not the one he actually wanted to get. There was a lot of ...sneaking his way into the job itself (cough cough blackmailing one of his brothers and lying about his age ), and then there was a LOT of disappointment when he realized what “job” he actually ended up with. But he doesn’t regret it one bit because it still played a part in how Master Fung discovered him and how he wound up at the Xiaolin Temple. I might write a fic about this headcanon later to explain.
14.) in this universe, Rai’s worst fears have a lot to do with not being enough, not being able to protect others, or not being there when others need him most. You can imagine how this current situation is affecting him right now.
15.) Despite being a Shoku Warrior, there are a few skills that Raimundo still hasn’t discovered or unlocked yet.
Maybe a visit from his new friend will fix that soon ;)
16.) Beneath his bluster and his confident behavior, Rai has some self esteem issues here and there. He worries often about being a good leader, and has a hard time forgiving himself for/moving on from past mistakes. In this way, he and Jermaine are very similar.
17.) Rai is the most superstitious out of all the Dragons and is high key just a little bit afraid of ghosts. Wuya didn’t count because she’s annoying but the thought of being contacted or confronted by people who died a long time ago really puts him on edge makes him a little uncomfortable.
18.) Rai is the type of person who could be bleeding to death but still insist everything is okay if it means keeping others from worrying about him. This is kind of a big weakness of his and definitely something he needs to get over. Needing to be honest with himself and others is something he has in common with Jack and Timber. (And Jermaine?). Go figure.
19.) Rai has the most dreams out of all the Xiaolin Dragons. His favorite ones are the ones where he’s going somewhere.
20.) Before, Rai had issues with authority and placing his faith in “total strangers” from China who were only interested in him for his wind powers. Now, Rai trusts Master Fung, Dojo and Guan all very much and always has unconditional faith in everything they say. He doesn’t question a single thing they tell him.
This isn’t always a good thing.
21.) After Rai’s accident, he’s been dealing with/will be dealing with a lot of emotions about himself, about his place, about the future....and about Jack.
If you don't mind me asking - and hopefully this doesn't involve spoilers - how are is everyone in Monkey Wrench? You mentioned in one of your previous replies that Jack is 16, and the story takes place 3 years after Rai is elected leader. Also, how does the Shoku Warrior status work? I noticed Omi reached the rank, but Clay and Kimiko haven't? And with the way they control their powers, were you inspired by Avatar/Korra in how the bend their elements without evoking them with spoken words?
Hey there! I saw your comment just now on my fic. Thank you so, so much for your kind words and support!
Hmm, let’s see, I know I wrote their ages down somewhere but I can’t remember where so I’ll list them off the top of my head.
Omi is 13-14.
Rai is 16
Clay is 17 and on the brink of turning 18
Kimiko is 15
Jack, Jermaine and Timber are all 16. I guess it might make more sense for Jermaine to be 15 so he’s closer in age to Omi? So maybe he just turned 16 or something.
They’re all older and more mature than they were in XS, and I like to think all this time they’ve been growing as a team and as Dragons.
I really don’t know how the Shoku status works in the show, but for me, you reach Shoku status as a Xiaolin Dragon when you unlock/master(?) some more key features of your element and experience major growth because of it. Rai became Leader in the show because a Leader was already on the rise, the team needed one, and he experienced major growth as a person, but I always thought that the others would have to earn their way there by perfecting and honing their element.
Omi’s water clones are an example of his Shoku-level powers. More might pop up soon.
Clay and Kimiko still need to find theirs ;)
Speaking of Shoku powers, thanks to Sun and his guidance, Timber is actually almost above Shoku-level with her own abilities so she surpasses/rivals all the other Dragons when it comes to her mastery of her element. She still has to learn martial arts and get out of her “civilian girl” mindset, though. And of course, Jack is a baby Dragon who still needs to learn the ropes, so his Shoku powers might not even show up in this fic? We’ll have to see.
As for the Korra/Avatar question, I suppose the answer is yes? I’m sorry, I really didn’t give much thought on that, but now that I think about it.....I guess they speak out their incantations (Shoku Mars Fire, Redwood Ragnarok: Wood) as a way to help them focus their element and themselves on completing the task at hand. but they don’t need to say anything out loud if they didn’t want to? Like Raven from Teen Titans. She doesn’t ALWAYS say her magic words but she often does to help her channel her attacks. I hope that makes sense.
Sun and Timber for the OC Ask thingy. :D
Gonna start this off with Sun and Timber will come later separately.
Full Name: { REDACTED } for spoiler reasons
Gender and Sexuality: Male, Aro/Ace (he’s really not interested in anyone and would rather focus on the finer things in life like power and revenge, but he can appreciate a pretty face when he sees one and he sure knows how to flirt)
Pronouns: He/Him/His
Ethnicity/Species: { REDACTED }
Birthplace and Birthdate: He was born in the mountains of China, a LOOOOOONG time ago
Guilty Pleasures: Peaches, pranks, smartphones and the apps on them, social media, memes, and pop music. Yes I am serious. Sun loves modern tech, keeps up with current memes and he absolutely LOVES pop music. If he had his way he would almost definitely fight Chase Young with “Dirty Pop” by *NSYNC playing in the background. He hates humanity but he loves their culture.
FYI his favorite song is (unironically) Toxic by Britney Spears.
Phobias: Sun likes to boast that he has grown so powerful that he no longer understands the concept of fear. But the loss of power - any power, no matter how small - makes him....uncomfortable.
What They Would Be (In)Famous For: There’s a reason why the Xiaolin don’t like to talk about the Dragon/s Of Wood.
What They Would Get Arrested For: Everything. But ESPECIALLY mass murder.
OC You Ship Them With: No OCs, but I think Sun would heavily flirt with Wuya, if only to screw with Chase. I totally see a “Pepe Le Pew x Penelope” vibe between them, where he’s constantly hitting on her and she is NOT having it.
OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Sun’s got a LOT of enemies but the OC that would most likely murder him directly, after she finds out the awful truth, is his own little “Sweet Pea”
Too bad she can’t. Since he’s immortal and all. Doesn’t mean she won’t FUCKING try it though.
Favorite Movie/Book Genre: Sun likes a lot of iconic movies (which he’s been exposed to through Timber), and his favorite genre? Comedy, duh. But keep in mind Sun’s sense of humor is really warped so what he considers “comedy”.....is....not always...okay.
Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: Heroes who fall for the wrong girl and are “too dumb to realize they’ve been played.” In general, selfless and genuine behavior really pisses him off.
Talents and/or Powers: Actually, a huge chunk of his power was forcibly taken from him by someone a long, long time ago (cough cough 🌬 🌬 🌬 cough cough). But even so, he’s no pushover. Unhindered by the Shen Gong Wu that’s keeping him under wraps, he’s still pretty OP. Notoriously OP even. But, historically speaking, that’s nothing new for Sun (wink wink nudge nudge)
Definitely though, one of his more dangerous abilities is being able to possess people who come into contact with the Shen Gong Wu he’s trapped in, aka The Crown Of The Monkey King. He uses them as a conduit to wreak as much havoc and destruction as possible and the results are catastrophic. Should he ever be released from his prison, they will EASILY become apocalyptic.
Why Someone Might Love Them: Guy sure knows how to tell a joke. Despite everything, he’s charismatic and magnetic, and he knows how to have fun. And yes, he’s capable of actual, genuine emotion, treating others with respect and has loved ones. Or, a loved one.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: He’s a sociopathic manic with an unquenchable lust for power, bloodshed, war and vengeance. Almost everyone around him is either a tool to be used, an enemy to slaughter or prey. He’s a creep. I mean, come on, he’s manipulating a broken, lonely girl with a toxic family history into risking her life and fighting his battles for his sake. And that’s just one way he’s ruined her life. He’s an abusive asshole who doesn’t care who he hurts so long as he comes out on top.
How They Change: Spoilers.
Why You Love Them: I based him off of villains I like, plus one benevolent character I love. He’s an amalgamation Of Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls, Alucard from Hellsing Abridged, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast and the Genie from Aladdin. He’s undoubtedly a sexist, arrogant, manipulative bastard, but at the same time, I do like him, in that way where you love to hate someone or can’t completely hate someone because they’re so funny.
