Even and Isak deal with the clocks going forward an hour in spring very differently.
Even is pretty chipper. he likes spring, something about seeing the world bloom back into life after the harsh grey of winter just invigorates his spirit, always has. there’s a spring (haha) in his step and his eyes are bright and he’s so inspired to do things, anything from his homework to taking photographs to surprising Isak with a handful of daisies he spotted and taking him out on a spontaneous coffee date to a new film project to a thousand other things that light up his mind.
it just seems like such a good time to start. who gives a shit about losing an hour’s sleep when the world is waking up again and Even has so many things he wants to do?
Isak, on the other hand, bemoans the clocks changing every year without fail. it’s bullshit, he tells Even repeatedly in the week running up to the change. it just proves that time is a bullshit concept if we can just suddenly decide ayyyyyy this is the time now. Isak’s relationship with sleep is strenuous at best, so to have a potential hour of sleep ripped out of his grasp is something he takes as a personal offence.
the first month after the clocks go forward Isak is extra grouchy in the mornings and will refuse to come out from his duvet cocoon unless Even coaxes him out with kisses and the gentle reminder that he doesn’t have enough of his 10% left to sleep through his first lesson as a ‘statement against the clocks changing’ as Isak put it.
