Hello anon— I have a couple but they aren’t fleshed oit yet but to your fears I say this:

THERE ARE NO DIBS IN FIC WRITING.

Please do not let the gatekeepers and so called “famous” fic writers out there prevent you from writing what you want to write. Everyone has different interpretations of the same plot or storyline or trope.

I was accused of stealing only by a small group because I think they wanted a reason to be mad at me and they jumped to conclusions and threw a tantrum.

So if someone accuses you of copying, this is what i think: unless you are word for word taking or you are find replacing or you very obviously are taking an entire storyline (for example, someone writes a Jonerys fic about deaf Jon I would be like OMG SO COOL ANOTHER DEAF JON FIC. If that person then had him as the owner of a wolf sanctuary and Dany a vet then I would think they were ripping off silent shadows.)

Please write what you want to write. The gate keeping in this fandom is so bad and it keeps good writers away and good stories unwritten. Obviously it is your preference and what you are comfortable with but I really hate seeing potential stories collecting dust on someone’s drive because they are too scared of some bitter people on the internet.

What sucks about the half life fandom right now is people gatekeeping liking it, hlvrai has introduced a lot of people to this amazing series, and it's alright if they found it by that series first, j myself have been a long time fan of hl in general, and I'm so glad that more people are introduced to it in general.

That’s the thing: It’s not “aimed at children,” it’s aimed at everyone. The director of the games has said as much himself. The fact that the company produces merchandise specifically for adults says as much as well. Saying, “this is for kids and not for you” when it comes to Pokémon is blatantly incorrect, because Pokémon is for everyone.
