then kaigaku just pulls the dick moves to end all dick moves

and BREAKS THEIR SENSEI’S HEART

fuckin hell kaigaku - did you really think that old man didn’t believe in you?? that he absolutely didn’t care for you??? that he was playing favoriteS??????? (granted he probably did pay more attention to zenitsu ONLY BECAUSE ZENITSU IS A BABY BITCH and kept trying to escape) 

lbr, gramps was one of the few people who cared about kaigaku - without a “but” or “except”. (zenitsu hates kaigaku with good reason) like gramps gave this kid another chance. took him into his home. saw his potential.

kaigaku spits in his face. (like he stabbed himejima in the back. everyone who cares about this boy dies.)

and kaigaku’s inability to see how much he is cared about and respected by jigoro and zenitsu is like... that’s really what hurts. because you know zenitsu hadnt gone in there, raring to cut kaigaku’s head off. he had to psyche himself up, come to terms with the fact that - oh man. im going to kill him. zenitsu has to kill someone he’s trained with, lived with - LIKE MAKE NO MISTAKE, zenitsu hated kaigaku. a jerk extraordinaire. a jextaordinaire. but like it’s zenitsu. he still wanted to be at least acknowledged by the guy. he was Somebody to zenitsu. and zenitsu has never had Somebody before. and then he got two! 2 ACTUAL PEOPLE! it was him, gramps, and kaigaku. but he psyched himself up for it. he’s gonna kill his brother because his brother killed their gramps. AND THAT CANNOT BE LOOKED OVER. zenitsu cannot forgive that.

so he’s gonna kill kaigaku. he likely believed that he’d die in the process. please. zenitsu? win? against the rightful heir of the lightning breath???? yeah okay but it’s gonna be The Last Thing He Ever Does

and zenitsu... came to terms wtih that too. not only his impending kill of kaigaku. but also his death by kaigaku’s hand. this was it. this was how it’s gonna be. guess the lightning breath is gonna end here with them - absolute failures, poor excuses for a demon slayer much less the successor to any breath. sorry gramps. you have some other level of shit luck.

but gramps meets zenitsu as he skirts death. and gramps just tells zenitsu “you are my pride and joy”
