It was a dull but calm day in early February, and Algy's world was still cold. Not horribly, bitingly cold, but just plain, dull, ordinarily cold, such that it was hard to imagine ever being warm again.

And Algy was bored. There was rarely much to do in a west Highland winter, and even less inclination to do it, especially on a day when there was not a hint of sunshine or warmth. So Algy decided to visit the wee garden pond, to see whether anything was happening there. Algy loved ponds and pond life, and hoped that perhaps he might see some activity below the surface, but no… all was still and calm there too… as still and calm as the old stone Buddha, whose perpetual gaze kept watch over the water regardless of the weather or the season…

Where’s the sun? 🌞

This is a close view of the soybean field out back. These have a long way to go before harvest. This was shot over an hour after sunrise. Still no sun. 🙁

We got a lot of rain that was needed here. My grass is looking better but the rain beat the hell out of my Coneflowers.

Here is one of the flowers that is still standing this morning. This flower has a bug on it that I haven’t seen before. Anybody know the name of this one? 👆

I need to make a short road trip this morning and a grocery stop. Need to do some mowing when the backyard dries out.

Time to get this show started.

Slunce jsem viděla naposledy před 14 dni a jak to tak vypadá, dalších 14 se nejspíš zase neukáže. Představuju si ho tam nahoře nad tou mlhou a kochám se tou bolavou a ubíjející "krásou" únorové krajiny. Únor bych vymněnila třeba za duben, mít tak 2 dubny místo února. Promiň únore, ale jsi zcela zbytečný. Možná by jen člověku chyběla ta velká radost z jara, kdybys nebyl.
