Childhood Comfort
This week's @galladrabbles prompt comes from Harvey @mikhailoisbaby. This is a continuation of my story from last week.
-----
Ian took the entrance ramp onto I-90. They should arrive in Nashville around … oh, 3:37 AM.
“I have an emergency kit.” Ian nodded with his chin. “Under the seat. A few comforts in case you need ’em.”
The passenger shuffled through the insulated bag. “Boxed juice. Granola bars. Fucking gummy bears, man? This is childhood stuff. You got any Jack Daniels?”
Ian felt a spark of disobedience. “I’ve got a few joints in the glove box.” This was definitely off-book behavior, but it felt right. “They come with a price.”
“What’s that, Jeeves?”
“You’ve gotta tell me your whole story.”

Galladrabbles
have a pre-canon @galladrabbles for this week’s prompt, childhood comfort, given to us by @mikhailoisbaby
Ian’s scribble in his notebook stops when Mickey walks in, late, to their 3rd grade classroom.
His heart drops to his stomach when Mickey sits down in front of him. The scars and bruises around his nape are visible to anyone who looks hard enough, but especially Ian.
Mickey nods at the teacher’s warnings and reviews of the lesson. His backpack looks lighter than usual today. He doesn’t bring anything out of it either.
Ian sighs and taps Mickey’s shoulder with his pencil.
Mickey looks like he’s already about to pounce when he turns around.
“Want one?”
He quickly softens.
Galladrabbles: Childhood Comfort
Hello! Thank you to @mikhailoisbaby for this week's @galladrabbles prompt: Childhood Comfort.
Continuing my fantasy AU.
----
The Sellsword and the Mage, Part 32:
With his strong hand on Ian’s shoulder, Mickey gently guided him out of the Great Hall—and away from his sister. Once they reached the corridor beyond, Mickey turned Ian to face him, reaching his hands up to frame his lover’s face.
“Hey, take a breath,” Mickey soothed. “Don’t go breakin’ up with your family over me.”
“I just don’t understand,” Ian placed his own hands over Mickey’s. “Fiona was more our mother than our actual mother. Every comfort of my childhood came from her. Until my magic manifested, that is. She never looked at me the same after that.”
